Knowledge and taste are completely separate issues, for me.
Yes, if you have a wider knowledge of music you will be better able to demonstrate your tastes, but that's about it.
I don't want the responsibility that comes with all that Music Knowledge.
it's summer, baby.
i like most things that Brandon mentions
I listen to pretty much everything, and tons of stuff that most of you would find deplorable, but I don't mention those artists most of the time because they're not relevant to discussions here, and/or i know people here wouldn't care about them (lots of punk/hardcore/metal stuff)
I never knew I was so enigmatic.
The inscrutable avatar helps.
In much the same way my brain thinks our Dale Gribble is the actual Dale Gribble.
I don't tend to discuss the groups I don't like (or discuss the stuff I like that isn't relevant, like Drinkey said). I do NOT like RATM, SOAD, Tool, Metallica, or NIN. I am neutral on The Killers. I like Radiohead, but I don't LOVE them. Does that cover all the oft-discussed artists?
Tool is fun. Fun, dumb music, but dumb in the good way, not in the Kid Rock way.
i think everyone (most) here have such broad tastes in music that this discussion is difficult to have.
if you want to talk about MOVIES though, Salah has perhaps the worst taste and ability to critique review movies out of anyone I ever come across
I'm disappointed that I didn't turn up on any Worst lists. Not because of ACTUAL bad taste, but because I refuse to be guilty about my guilty pleasures, and because I've never masturbated to Radiohead.
