Among the new artists confirmed to play at the Forum next 27th, 28th and 29th of May the most outstanding is the presence for the first time in our country of Van Dyke Parks, mainly known thanks to his work with Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, although he has a long career in which he has produced records for artists like Randy Newman and Ry Cooder and has released many solo records including classics like "Song Cycle" and "Discover America". Van Dyke’s performance is part of his tour with Clare And The Reasons, he collaborates with them and the New Yorkers repay the favour in part of his show. At the festival Clare And The Reasons will present their record “Arrow”, a record which follows the path of their debut "The Movie", pop with intricate arrangements and a jazzy aftertaste.
Other noteworthy confirmations are the Rother/Shelley/Mullan project, superband formed by Steve Shelley (drummer of Sonic Youth), Michael Rother (frontman of the mythical Neu! and member of one of the first formations of Kraftwerk and Harmonia) and Aaron Mullan (from the New York band Tall Firs and collaborator of people like Chris Corsano). The unclassifiable Chrome Hoof (somebody tried to define them as doom disco), the lo-fi pop of the Texas band Harlem and the Seville band Pony Bravo are the other bands that have confirmed their attendance at the imminent edition of San Miguel Primavera Sound.
Below are some of the parallel activities of the festival ("Primavera A La Ciutat"). On Saturday 22nd of May the now traditional cycle of concerts in the underground will take place (“Primavera Sound Baixa Al Metro”) with the concerts of The Nu Niles, Internet 2, Blackbird and 3Mellizas. On Wednesday 26th in the Apolo there will be the "Wichita 10th Anniversary Party" showcase, where Los Campesinos!, the Swedish band First Aid Kit and Peggy Sue will play. And finally Diploide from Valladolid and The Big Head Troubled Boy, project of Mia Salazar from Barcelona along with British musicians will join the concerts which will take place in Parc Joan Miró ("Primavera Al Parc") on the 29th and 30th of May.
The access to the shows in the Metro stations is granted with a valid Metro ticket. The access to shows at Parc Joan Miro is free. The access to the pre-festival showcases is granted with the San Miguel Primavera Sound 2010 full festival ticket.
