why even bring up Billboard. what does Monklish think?
Indeed.
I'm one of those diehards who bought tickets for NYC in September, even though I knew they'd probably play Coachella, too. Malkmus/Jicks were one of my favorite sets in 2008, and they pulled an impressive mid-afternoon crowd at the Outdoor Theatre.
I can see Pavement as a subheadliner on the Coachella Stage. Even with the whole reunion aspect, that's as high up the food chain as I can see them being. And I'd have said the same for Blur, who I also adore.
Here's the thing guys: when sites like Billboard talk about who's "headlining" Coachella, haven't you all noticed that they don't really differentiate between headlining and subheadlining? Like last year all those big trades would say that the fest was being headlined by Paul, The Cure, The Killers, and also subs like Amy Winehouse. They seem to consider all of it headlining. So I think the article is probably likely to be accurate under their definition.
But no, never in a million years could Pavement actually headline Coach. Mostly because punk sucks.
this makes the most sense out of every thing in this thread..
about as much as Pavement headlining, and the point i was making..
i thought these rumors about them headlining came from interviews done around the time of last year's lineup announement, when they talked about how they wanted to headline and weren't interested in doing it otherwise..

PAVEMENT!!!!!!!!!!1
you know my answer. anything under 90 mins is criminal
Ahahahaa
I don't think I'm hosting a 2016 collaborative playlist.
i don't care what the fuck pavement is, as long as they don't headline.
pavement blows.
There's absolutely no way Pavement could headline. If Portishead couldn't do it, then Pavement definitely couldn't do it.
