1. The White Stripes
2. Do Make Say Think
3. Joanna Newsom
4. Battles (I saw them do "Atlas" at Vegoose, but it still doesn't count)
5. Comets on Fire
(Old artists are boring!)
Hoping I will be able to scratch off Joanna and DMST in the next 6 months. Fingers crossed.
I forgot John Maus...
1. Iggy and the Stooges - I've seen the Stooges but never Iggy and the Stooges...Gimme Danger!
3. The Saints
4. The Sonics
5. Brother Ali
Hmmm...most of mine I just don't care about anymore, like REM or U2. I regret not seeing them back when I loved them, but it's not a big deal anymore. And I'm not going to say The Smiths or Talking Heads, even though it is physically possible.
So, I'll say
4)Bauhaus (but that's a weak desire)
Hmmm...I dunno. There are bands other people have mentioned that I would LIKE to see, like Underworld, but it's not a big deal to me.
From this thread, I HAVE seen...Pixies, Portishead, Bjork, Madonna, RHCP, Daft Punk, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Interpol, 808 State, The Cure (a bunch of times), Siouxsie, Mogwai, Tool, Stereolab, The The, Stooges, Smashing Pumpkins, Primus, Erasure, Beastie Boys and Devo. (A few of them I did not see full sets though.)
First of all, I have to say I am shocked! Shocked at the number of people who have not seen Bowie!
There are a lot of bands that I haven't seen because I wasn't willing to pay big $$$ for nosebleed seats.
Nick Cave/Birthday Party
Spacemen 3 (still possible, right?)
Technically, Faust belongs on that list, but I have a chance to see them in a month.
Who I've seen from others' lists: Portishead, White Stripes, Pixies, Bowie (from the back of an arena, so just barely), Radiohead, Daft Punk, Merzbow, McCartney, Boredoms, Deerhunter, Sleater-Kinney (half set), Arcade Fire (half set), Sonic Youth, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Stooges, Kraftwerk, Leonard Cohen, LCD Soundsystem (sort of, sat through their whole set at the back of the Sahara), Primus, Buzzcocks, Big Star, Autechre, Battles, Comets On Fire, Devo,
Compare that to Aerosmith/KISS ($150), Van Halen ($150), the Eagles, Madonna, etc. I think Madonna nosebleed seats were going for over $200. Ridiculous.
And I don't think I will ever be able to see the Blue Man Group for the same reason.
hmmmm. this list would probably be different tomorrow, but tonight:
- Caribou @ The Fonda in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 28th
- The Replacements @ The Palladium in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 15th
- Belle & Sebastian + Mac Demarco @ The Fox Theater in Pomona, CA on Thursday, April 16th
6x Coachella Attendee (2007 - 2011, 2014a)
oh damn a Spacemen 3 reunion at Coachella would be incredible. Hearing "Suicide" performed live would be something to remember.
But, yeah. Seeing Spacemen 3 would be amazing.
I tended to stick to artists that tour regularly. The following is the list of the top 5 artists that got kicked off due to those criteria:
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Velvet Undergound
I also left off artists that I haven't seen because they are dinosaurs and command a billion dollars a ticket. This is also known as the "Please Headline Coachella List."
Bob Dylan (a little over a month and I'll have to edit)
I can't think of a fifth for that group.
I know that I've seen Sonic Boom do Ecstasy Symphony, Starship, Suicide, Transparent Radiation, Feel So Good, Things'll Never Be The Same, So Hot (Wash Away All My Tears) and Revolution. There's probably a few more.
The coolest one I saw with Spiritualized is Take Me To The Other Side.
$20 plus bus travel to NYC.
I've seen Sonic Boom at the Echo and he played a few Spacemen 3 songs. The only one I'm sure of is "Transparent Radiation" (speaking of which, it'd be pretty fucking awesome to see Red Krayola do that album as a Don't Look Back set). I'm jealous that you saw "Suicide," Bryan. I could probably substitute Spacemen 3 with Spiritualized since all I've seen of them is the first few songs of their '08 Coachella set before the sound problems pissed me off and I walked away. Especially Ladies & Gentlemen Don't Look Back.
Britpop heavy of course
2. Stone Roses
3. Neutral Milk Hotel
5. Smiths (kind of getting whatever about it)
I've never seen Bowie, but I don't know. Could he still bring it? If not would it be disappointing?
1. Muse (with my boardname and all, this needs to be rectified asap and it will...many times)
2. White Stripes
3. Arcade Fire
4. Iron Maiden
Royksopp (about to happen finally!)
Tool (always seem to miss them)
