Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I saw them play it in London. By then the rest of the band had it down tight - Richard was really fucking on - but yeah, Win's voice was falling apart and he just couldn't do it justice. Which is doubly unfortunate, given that he's the big Smiths fan in the family in the first place.

They were mainly covering it for the benefit of Manchester, far as I know, but they give the distinct impression that they just don't quite invest as much in other people's songs as they do their own.

So I'll just offer Age of Consent, which I think they do beautifully.

And Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son, which I enjoy greatly, but is surely wasted on you damned colonials who didn't grow up aware of it.

And then I shall step politely aside, sorry thread.

Oh my God, not only did we not go with Johnny Cash, we didn't go Jeff Buckley either!?!?!!?!

    EDIT:

I didn't mean to kill the thread, I really didn't.

I'm so very sorry, little thread. I brought you into the world, only to throttle you in your prime.

I see your Cardigans and I raise you a Big Black.

And I've posted this in the Default Thread, but it's probably my favorite Sabbath cover I've heard. It's just off enough.

I think this is possibily the best cover of a song. Ever.

I'm sure New Order purists hate this cover, but I've always loved it:

    Frente - "Bizarre Love Triangle"

Funny enough, this is one of my go-to karaoke songs. It's super-short, so I don't have to be on stage for long.

ton of good ones, the Cure and Zepplin covers. Anyway the Richard Cheese doing 'Closer' is great, and Jimmy Hendrix 'All Along the Watchtower' I always thought was the original.

    Specials:

here's a Pulp song covered by Shatner:

YES. Awesome cover. Tom Morello came out and played this song with Bruce when I saw Springsteen a few days before Coachella, it was incredible.
