Some of the highlights include:
Beck at the Tibetan Freedom Concert telling the back story behind the Truckdrivin' Neighbors Downstairs and asking the crowd if anybody had his lost original tape recording of the neighbors fighting.
The show from the Midnite Vultures tour in '00 was completely awesome, from the music to the stage set-up to the huge speaker wall that they brought with them. Beck jokingly invited everyone up to his hotel room (which overlooked the venue) for an afterparty. I did however, go to the real afterparty that DJ Swamp spun at.
At the Vegoose show Beck and his band were dressed up as boy scouts and had a tent and campfire set up on stage. They brought a couple on-stage from the crowd and during that evolution one of the band members tripped over the tent and ate some serious sh!t. Beck laughed his ass off and asked if there was someone in the crowd dressed as a doctor who could provide assistance.
The '05 show in Santa Cruz was the first show that Beck had done in the Cruz in forever and he was stoked to be there. We actually walked by him him and a lady on the street as he was pushing a stroller in downtown Santa Cruz.

Beck likes to play in El Paso for free, and sometimes he hangs out around here. One time, he was hanging around at this art gallery and my friend was playing some electronic music. Pretty intense having Beck in the crowd. A month later, Beck played a free show and I got to meet some of his band mates, and I said, "Thanks for coming, Beck," and he said, "Yeah," but we couldn't really hang out with him because he hurt his back earlier. Then I saw him on his recent tour, and after the actual concert, he played a free show at one of the local bars, but I was too tired to go to that.
I really love Midnite Vultures. "Sexx Laws" and "Mixed Bizness" were on the first mix CD I ever made (or actually had someone make for me since I didn't have DSL or a burner in 6th grade). This fucking kid would make people pay him to burn them CDs. But it was worth it, that mix kicked ass.
Good memories. I really like Beck. He was awesome at Detour in 06, but that is the only time I have ever seen him live.
Sally, find me a setlist from the Vancouver show I saw last year with Band of Horses opening.....

And, WHAT THE FUCK?!
From their blog:
Last November, Beck and his band covered on stage, “Star Power.” This is a Sonic Youth song from their album EVOL. A few months later, it was announced that Beck was releasing a cover of “Green Light,” which is also from EVOL. That release was a single, the b-side being a Sonic Youth cover of “Pay No Mind” no less!
What does all this EVOLness mean? We learned today, thanks to our friends in Japan, that Beck has covered the whole album. He said this in an interview/article with a Japanese magazine. I’m told it will be part of some Sonic Youth box set. I know SY has been releasing Deluxe versions of their albums, so maybe EVOL Deluxe? Or maybe some greater box set project?
Regardless, this is super interesting and really a fun thing for Beck to have done!
Bmack, those are some pretty sweet shows. That wiltern show sounds like it was a blast and those echo shows are awesome.
Edit:
EVOL? Interesting...

Re: 'Debra'
I was just listening to Midnite Vultures on the way home from work today. That falsetto in Debra, coupled with that pretty flawless motown-esque backing band, is just astonishing. I hadn't listened to it in a couple of years maybe and I got goosebumps.
Question: Was this a fluke or could he ever really, truly duplicate that incredible falsetto in a live setting?
absolutely love beck's music.
but unfortunately the only time i've seen him was ACL2008 and he flat out blew.
would like to see a good show soon.
Hijacked Flavors is an incredible website.
Damn man, you're so lucky. That was one of the first Beck songs I truly fell in love with.
I hate that "Mutations" got the shaft this last tour. He didnt play not one song off of it when I saw him, and looking at the setlists he didn't play any of it anywhere....
Except in Europe where those bastards got TROPICALIA
Dude this setlist is fucking perfect
