i'm homeless but discouraged. i think i'll just be buying the camping pass to party saturday night and skip sunday altogether.![]()
I'm interested. I'm theoretically a member of the unofficial group, but that's one of the ones where people aren't responding to PMs.
Name: Robrt West
Arriving: probably midnight-1 on thursday night
Where I'm coming from: SF Bay area
How long i'm staying: through Monday morning. (trying to be back in SF for a 6.30pm class Monday night)
Something special to contribute to the group: unsure. hugs, maybe, if the group is into that.
Same here I'm trying to get in touch with the thread starter but no luck...
My name is Aaryn
I'll be there Thursday probably before 5
I'M from Temecula which is about an hour away from Coachella
I'll be there Thurs night through Monday morning
I'm not sure what I can contribute other than I have been to every coachella since 2000 so maybe some advice
haha another temecula native? neato! i am as well.. we'll have to meet up.
Aaryn, gotcha...see you there
haha. this group already has 2 people who from un-official camp group.
me,too. and i'd like to join this group.
my name is Carlos Shin.(actually it's not my real name.but maybe you guys are
hard to pronunce my real name. just call me carlos!)
i'll be there Friday afternoon. hmm..i'm worry how to find you guys.
but i can't go early.
i'm from Seoul,South Korea.
It's my first time to visit US. i'm little bit nervous and excited!
I'll stay there until 20 morning.
and contribution..frankly i have no idea but i'll do my best to have a fun!
Hmm. I can bring a portuguese flag and we can hang it from a canopy or tent or something, which will indicate where we are; that will make it easier to find us.(Of course, if we're not the only people with a portuguese flag, it won't help.
)
Hello. Obviously I'm super last minute, but I would love to join this group, if possible. My name is Garfield. I am from Vancouver, and I've never been to Coachella, or any festival like it for that matter so don't really know how all this works. Thanks,
G
You're in man...I will PM everybody my cell phone number. When I get to the campground on Thursday I will set aside a space for all of us depending on head count and then you can just call me as you come and I will let you know where it's at.....it's getting close!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to be camping alone this year too...May I join your posse?
My name is Brittany (I'm 21). I am from Sacramento, CA and I am trying to find a ride that leaves on Thursday so that I can set up camp. This is my third year at Coachella, second time camping. I have a tent that fits two and I'll be bringing some snacks/cooler.
I'm going to try to fit some cards and maybe my mancala board so that we can do something during the hot morning.
I am planning on leaving Monday morning so I can get back to northern California before Tuesday (That is if I can find a ride)
What do you say?
No, I don't think that is necessary. I am talking with a co-worker who I know is going and camping and they are leaving from Sacramento, so it works out better that way. Thank you for the offer though!
How does this work? do we meet at the gate or something and then set up camp? Last time I camped, they escorted us to the plot where we were told to set up.
also, (this may seem lame, but what does PM mean?)
Haha, I didn't know before I was on the boards either, no worries...it just means private message.
Here's the official word from the Coachella website so as long as I get there first and everybody calls me to find out where we are at, ahould work out beautifully:
Can we/How can we camp next to each other if we are not arriving together?
This is a tough one but we can try. Help us help you. Whoever is first in your group to arrive, you must tell the camp counselors how many people are planning to camp with you. You will be assigned an area and you are responsible for contacting the rest of your group to tell them your camp spot. When your friends arrive they must tell the counselors where you told them you were camping to be directed to that spot. IF for some reason your spot was moved or you can't reach them, you may try and leave a message for them at the onsite camping Cyber Cafe, telling them where your spot is. This should work most of the time and we apologize for any glitches that may occur. AND you must make an effort to have everyone arrive before saturday night and understand you risk your spots being filled up by other campers arriving as the campgrounds get close to filling up.
Wow. Go me. That makes sense![]()
That sounds good to me. I am so excited now! The person I was supposed to be camping with ended up not having the money to go, so I was beginning to think I would have to camp all by my lonesome.
Our camping group is going to be sweet...I just hope nobody is timid! I am going to have at least one session of group shots...oh just an FYI too Filter Magazine is having a free pre-party thursday night, free booze, music, etc. these types of parties are usually awesome, I will be there for sure..... oh but i'll still have my phone on in case anybody is getting in around that time.
hey guys,,, i am in
my name is scott, im flying in from the mountains in canada.
this is my first coachella
i wont' have a cell phone but could call from the airport, or just check in at the cyber cafe i guess ?
we'll figure it out one way or another
i should be there thursday by 1:00ish in the afternoon.
edward, how do we get into the filter party?
i can't wait for the festival to start
It would really help to have some sort of sign up, too ... a "procrastinator's group" flag or something attached to whichever tent is first. Phone reception can be spotty, at best, and it's difficult to describe areas in a large field of tents ... landmarks are where it's at.![]()
do they number the rows of the camp sites or anything like that?
I agree with aphrael...the bigger the sign, the better.
I am planning on going to Trader Joes before heading down from Sacramento to get snacks too. One thing I hate is not having breakfast, and there is no way this penny-pincher is going to pay seven bucks on a breakfast burrito in 95 degree mornings. Any suggestions on snacks?
Buster just sign up for the Filter magazine E news letter (I think), you can always search the board for "filter" people have definitely been talking about here
I agree on the sign....portuguese flag sounds cool and I'll also make a poster board with the group name on it... a lot of people flying in won't have access to local telephone srvc.
as far as snacks, energy bars are a huge hit because they don't go bad....I am personally getting an ice chest with dry ice at the bottom and regular ice on top to hopefully last for the whole w/e, but i'm not sure what's going to be in it
oh yeah and welcome our new add marginwalker + gf from So Cal
Yup i'm in! I just pm'd you slapuinpublic.
if any group members want to add me on myspace it's:
