Too many scared, ignorant people for this to ever pass.
Not now. But, the fact that it actually got to the point of being an actual bill is hopeful for the future. As far as the value of the cash crop, not sure, but with the current drought situation, and the farms in central valley only getting about 15% of their water this year, it would be a wise idea to plant crops that don't take as much water.
This would be rad!
I'll be happy and jealous as hell if it passes :/
Seeing how I'm from BC and all the infamous BC bud we still have nothing positive with the laws
I want a pool full of weed!!!!!
Do it California. Make me proud. I will move. Fuck Arizona. Felony my ass. America needs to stop putting non-violent drug offenders in the violent situation that is prison. What the fuck happened to "the pursuit of happiness" guaranteed by our constitution? Just don't take ma guns away and you can wipe your ass with the rest of that silly piece of paper. Ain't that right America?
Lets get the hell out of debt, start a new industry utilizing the most versatile plant fiber known, and create healthier medicine and recreation for all!
Take a minute, and let your district representatives know how you feel cali!

I dont smoke weed but this would be great just so this state can get out of debt. Maybe if they did this they could give out tax checks instead of IOUs.
think coachella would allow a 'smoking section'? cause that would be fucking great.

The 2011 Coachella will be sponsored by weed.
I was saying that about 4 days ago. If this bill goes up for a vote I'll definitely vote in favor of legalization, but I think it would be pretty unanimous that it would get legalized. Young voters would definitely vote in favor for legalization, regardless of political parties, because the love of weed is just that powerful. I know tons of people who are just as likely to vote Republican in the next election as they are to vote in favor of legalizing weed.
Unfortunately, this would also mean that more people give a shit about getting high than guaranteeing rights to homosexuals, which I find to be completely fucking retarded.
I'd vote yes but I can not foresee the future.
If Cannabis is legalized that also would mean that Hemp would be legal again (most likely). So, we could stop having to import hemp from saner countries for things like paper, clothing, bird seed, oils, etc.
why couldnt they just add 30 to this bill for the lolz.

Hell or highwater, fire and brimstone, not even cancer is powerful enough to keep me from Coachella!
same here, with the exception of some select concerts.
it's about frigging time. i don't honestly see this passing, but god it would be such a wonderful hopeful sign of the rising intelligence of the population.
fortunately, some polls have shown that this may be more likely to pass than previously thought.
I want to believe that this has a fighting chance...
But many people remain blinded by the "war on drugs"....
Not to mention people are still afraid of change, I thought that Proposition 8 had no chance of passing, and the otherwise glorious election day was salted by prop 8's injustice... People are scared of what they do not understand, sadly.
let us not forget that this was not a sanctioned or official poll, it was a general poll carried about by a television station... take the results with a grain of salt, don't know if anyone is familiar with MTV Euro and Best Act Ever...
I can just see the ads now.
"Mommy mommy, I heard all drugs are bad except marijuana"
"GASP! I don't want my daughter hanging around thugs and getting raped! NO ON BILL 390!"
You know something similar to this:
One of the main fund sources was Knights of Columbus who volunteer to build houses for people who are not gay and giving coats to children who aren't gay. And giving the world the wonderful reading material entitled "The Gift of Black Folk: The Negroes in the Making of America"
Oh, did I mention that group, who advocated the passing of a proposition in California, is from Connecticut? So it really doesn't even matter what people in California think.

christ, damned knights of columbus... go invest your money in some intelligent design theories, you would be hurting less people.
Yeah, you have the obvious group of pot smokers who want this to pass -- but then I think you also have a large chunk of people in the non-smoker camp who don't really care if others smoke and see the obvious tax benefits of allowing this to pass.
Unfortunately, I still doubt it'll get through.
'sin' is relative.
If marijuana and other naturally occurring psychedelics are a 'sin' then man was 'sinning' before he even had a concept of the word.
These things become 'sin' when the ideas and ideals of a small group of people are, peacefully and forcibly, spread their ideas to a larger audience.
there is no way that person was being serious. "sin"? seriously? no...
