You will not regret purchasing this when you can afford it. It is easily worth the expense.

The Kindergarten Demos and the 20 year old SALOME(Axtung Bebei) demos are very different beasts.

The new U2 box also has some new vocals/overdubs(just like JT, UF and early stuff boxsets to finish up recordings) and does also mix in album recordings with "demos".

Wow Pop is good but I don't know if I could put it at #2.

I just love the balls it took for a band that size to put out an album like that. It would have felt pretty cliche for them to put this out had Kid A come first, but with this coming out 3 years ahead of that they really were the first huge band in some time to really try to take their music in a different direction. And to me, it's also a bit more consistent than the two I listed below it. Adam Clayton's bass work has always been what I've loved about the band the most, and he's just a beast throughout Pop.

It's too hard for me to rank the albums, but here are my grades:

    1) Boy A-
    2) October B-
    3) War A-
    4) The Unforgettable Fire A
    5) The Joshua Tree A+
    6) Rattle and Hum B
    7) Achtung Baby A+
    8) Zooropa A-
    9) Pop B+
    10) All That You Can't Leave Behind B
    11) How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb C+
    12) No Line on the Horizon D

I'm probably too hard on Rattle and Hum and too easy on Zooropa, but there you have it.

Just watched the documentary "From The Sky Down" last night and thought it was fantastic. The version of "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" that they were playing in it blew me away.
Check out Sleeping is Giving in for great mixes and other cool stuff

I agree with all of this.

    Lots of news:

    * Paul McGuinness is stepping down as the band's manager
    * The band is inking a deal that further solidifies their ties with and begins their day-to-day management by Live Nation
    * The new album -- which they've been working on since 2010 -- is targeted for an April release, Danger Mouse is still producing
    * They're reaching out to corporate sponsors, possibly in an attempt to announce the album in a Super Bowl commercial

Many ominous signs in all of that.

More proof that they are horrible money whoring sellouts.

I get that they are older, but Super Bowl ad? Really?

Still, hopeful that Danger Mouse will pull some different sounds out of them.

Danger Mouse producing is fine; what concerns me is the possibility of another album that was fussed over for 2 1/2 years, sucking any and all life out of it in the process.
