faithless and ratatat this year, gnarls barkley (I had heard of him but didnt know his music that well) last year, kraftwerk and pixies (same as gnarls barkley) in 2004
and the killers at street scene summer 2004. they weer the best band the whole weekend but the first to play sunday afternoon
I am going to say that rodrigo y gabriella sounds awesome. They do a spanish guitar version of one by metallica.
I go to shows and festivals.
Over 1000 youtube videos from concerts
So far for this year, I've really gotten into Justice and Digitalism. Despite the fact that both groups have a very limited discography as of now, they both have a sound that promises to be great live. I'm familiar with many of the other bands on the list.
i remember mars volta kinda rockin and soundtrack of our lives sounding nice.
So far, the bands that I had not heard of before Coachella that I now can't wait to see are:
- Arcade Fire
- Spank Rock
- Evil Nine
- Silversun Pickups
- The Good, the Bad, & the Queen
- Blonde Redhead
Although, even if I wasn't going to Coachella, I would have seen Arcade Fire on SNL. They are impressive live, but I'm still trying to figure out what instrument Régine Chassagne was playing during the second song that they played.
I'm starving... let's get some f*ckin french toast!
im gonna have to go with silversun pickups, the decemeberists, and busdriver. now i cant wait to see all of them (hopefully the decemberists will play the outdoor stage as the rhcp do the main, so theres less of a crowd)
I'm pissed I never really listened to Broken Social Scene until after coachella 2004
TV on the Radio
!!!, broken social scene, atmosphere, pretty girls make graves, fantomas, autolux, jamie lidell.
I've picked up on a ton of bands since I got my tickets,
Bands I heard of but never got into before Coachella:
The Arcade Fire, Faithless, Air, Sonic Youth, The Kooks, Silversun Pickups, Placebo
Bands I had no clue about before Coachella:
Tilly and the Wall, Jarvis Cocker, Circa Survive, Of Montreal, Happy Mondays, Mika, TGTBTQ, The New Pornographers, Amy Winehouse, Explosions In The Sky, Infected Mushroom, etc.
tilly and the taint, jarvis tainter, circa taint, of taint, happy taint, mitaint, TNTBTQ, the taint pornographers, amy tainthouse, explosions in the taint, infected taint, etc
I had never heard the Black Keys or Silversun Pickups before they were announced for Coachella. Now I am looking forward to hopefully seeing both of them.
I felt like I'd just watched something culturally significant. Actually, Nirvana came to mind. I hope this is Arcade Fire's coming out party.
Kid Sister with A-Trak, and Akron/Family both blew me away. Such fun high energy shows.
Bands I didnt know about before the lineup but became a must-see after research\
Does It Offend You, Yeah
Bands that I discovered at Coachella
Death Cab For Cutie
Wait, you saw VNV Nation in 07 Ryan?
Here are some bands that I missed at Coachella over the last three years but I saw them later in life, and it made me wish wish wish I'd seen them at Coachella because they are Awesome live and they probably would have been even better at Coachella:
The National 08
Booka Shade 08
VNV Nation 07
Animal Collective (missed in 06 but saw in 08)
The biggest example for me would be the Go! Team in 2006. I was willing to watch their set in the name of seeing the Scissor Sisters right after. The Go! Team were so fun!!!! It was an awesome show.
In 2008 it was VHS or Beta and Boyz Noize. VHS or Beta was the first act on Sat, and I figured I'd give them a try... I loved that high energy dance rock. They were really good!
Boyz Noize was just a random DJ I was looking to move to for an hour or so. Little did I know he'd be the best DJ act I saw all weekend (I saw and enjoyed many other DJ acts)... He blew the fuckin roof off the dance tent lol.
What happen if someone make a crime?
