put your bias aside...for one, i never said a female couldn't rap and never compared it to cleaning or cooking. i honestly think, females are better singers than males. and from what i've seen out there now, NO female has shown the ability to rap. who knows, maybe some CAN rap, they just haven't been found yet. i like a few songs here and there, but for the most part, i'm sticking to my statement: female rappers fall short. name all the great rappers ever...now try to throw a female rapper in that category. impossible...
i do like "push it" though![]()
grrr....yaya, you know what i mean. i didn't MEAN anything sexist. i'd be all for a legit female rapper..i juuuuuust don't see it. sorry ma'am. i love women. i love women in music. i just don't think they should rap, given their track record. once again, if one decides to step her game up and go for the gold, i'm all for it. outta all the females these days, i like jean grae the most. still, she's only mediocre.
and stop trying to make this a sexist or racist thing. you are a black female correct?
all it boils down to is female rappers are subpar.
Well I got my 2 cents on this thread. Being a long time hip-hop fan dating back to the late 80's, mostly because of 2 older brothers that endured the early hip-hop stages. Now here i go....Dlo failed to mention some amazing artists, that I know he may not feel great about, but im shocked they were not mentions in this thread Dlo.
FIRST and foremost..Del The funky homosapien, aka deltron 3030, aka del. Now this man has dont it all, rapped about hard and good times, hell even 3030 was a completly made up future which he in fact made up words to go along with rhymes. He he def among the best hiphop artist of all time imo.
Now to respond to the "greatest of all time". Ya nwa, pac, biggie are def right there. But no mention of Public enemy? Im not a big fan, but the respect is there and you cant argue the fact that they were fucking HUGE in there time. Not sure wat else to say about public but ya...they were the shit...if only i wasnt 7 when they were huge.....
I got to open some more presents here in a minute...but ill just mention one more for ya dlo....BIG L! word...be back lata

First and foremost, what does my being a black female have to do with my arguments regarding female MCs? I gave you the advice after your first post to "shut the fuck up." You didn't. Instead, you chose to dig yourself deeper into a hole and then accuse me of calling you sexist/racist. Which I never did. My argument is to say that female MCs not having any merit within the hip hop community is a stupid statement. I don't give a shit if you're sexist, racist, homophobic, or whatever. If you can't see the value of Lyte As A Rock or Black Reign or Jeanius then you are missing out on an integral part of the narrative of hip hop. I made no claims that every bitch that picks up a mic is worthy of the title MC. I said, there are women artists who are sick and can and do run with the dudes that you're claiming are gods in the hip hop community.
God the tools are out in force today. Don't sweat it ally. Lyte as a Rock was a good album.

ok...start from the beginning. you said some females could go toe to toe with some of my hip hop "gods." i beg to differ...they wouldn't stand a chance. and realistically, you can't look at hip hop and say "ohhhh we wouldn't have this or that, without that female rapper," as opposed to a rakim or krs-one.
also, i just got a sense of you being bias since you only suggested female rappers. don't care to go much more down that road, it wasn't my full topic.

as for you...really? i'm not picking a fight with ally or anything, she's good people in my book. and if you really wanna take her side, you can do more to defend female rappers then to say one lp is "good." if more people here think there are any GREAT female rappers, speak up. or you can back up the guy that said lil kim lol
no way in my heart is that sexist. i'd LOVE for a chick mc, to shut me up. i thought jean grae could do it but...not so much.
i like some female rappers...but they just aren't good enough. throw out a name?
in no way, am i trying to be a dick about this. i'd love to hear other views, not just talk shit. i used to really love hip hop but kinda faded away these past couple years.
alright, enough with the female mc subject. what i think it boils down to is that the general audience wants to hear a male mc; its not about who has better talent, its the fact that female emcees (for the most part) just do not appeal to the general hip hop audience. that being said, let us please continue with relative hip hop discussions. pete rock, madlib, dr. dre, 9th wonder, and ant are geniuses, i don't care what anyone says. you make a beat as good as half their shit and i will suck your dick. anyways i have a few questions, and i'm going to start with this...
My first question will be in a "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" format:
RJD2 is
A. shouldn't be near a drum machine, nonetheless naming himself after a star wars robot
B. is chill, but wouldn't tell my kid about him and his white boy "hip hop" beats
C. needs to tell me where i can find such amazing records for sampling
D. rips off DJ Shadow
or...
E. makes Dj Shadow proud
....well?
it is multiple choice so take your pick
