The Jay-z impersonators voice was on point. I really appreciated Waka Flockas commitment to being intense. It looked like the vein in his head was about to pop out. Plus I really enjoyed his Spongebob Squarepants lyrics about him, Gucci and Spongebob living under the sea.

Its not so bad that you need to throw around words like "douchebag" but we all express our frustration in various ways. Besides the fact that he rhymed head with head in one freestyle is okay with me, he's proven his skill with words in the past. Now if your "advance" comment is in regards to this being the Hip Hop 102 page then I must apologize. I had no idea that was the content. However I do believe while it may have started out that way, it has definitely changed course to become a discussion on hip hop in general. Which in that case, it doesn't matter if this is advanced but instead it must be hip hop someone was willing to share because they enjoy/want to discuss/etc....which I do. I enjoy it quite a bit because though he sounds like Ghostface and looks like Brooklyn's version of John Candy, he says some pretty interesting things and sounds good saying them. You should check out his catalog and not be so quick to judge based on one freestyle.

This is the advanced hip hop thread, you must pass HIP HOP 101 before entering. Here we will discuss Hip Hop theory, beat boxing, beat production, break dancing, battling, cyphering, word play, djing, multi-syllable rhyming, freestyling, content, delivery and swagger. I can appreciate most hip-hop for one aspect or other but I do find most radio rap to be utterly useless beyond the production.

Some godfathers of hip hop are KRS-1, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap. Almost any respectable emcee will credit one of these four as an influence.

KRS-ONE letting you know hip hop is NOT dead and in case you missed it in 101 a refresher course.


These four birthed the next generation which includes some of the most popular rappers of all time. Artist such as Jay-Z, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, Wu-Tang Clan and N.W.A.

The Gravel Pit by the eclectic Wu-Tang Clan.


There is also a generation of conscious rappers, they choose to rap about ideas, concepts and past experiences opposed to materialistic objects. Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch and The Roots all fall in this category. The aforementioned godfathers blended conscious ideas with materialism which made them simply, AWESOME!
