Soul Mining has to be one of my top 5 albums of all time!

If we're gonna have dated 80s synthy pop, I'd rather have Simple Minds.
I'd love to see The The, never did back in the day. This would look real good on the poster.
Signed!
Tom, you should listen to some of their later stuff. Those videos are from their first album, and that's really the only time they sounded like that. The band got progressively darker and less synthy. In the mid 90's they even recorded an album consisting solely of reinventions of Hank Williams songs.
I doubt we could get Matt Johnson to Southern California, but it's nice to dream.
I'm very down for this, sign me up.
Yes.

Yes yes give me all your jam jars. Armageddon Days Are Here Again.
I saw The The at Glasgow Barrowland on Sun 12th Dec 1993. Matt Johnson brought Johnny Marr on stage for a couple of songs and the place erupted. The next day I was back for ... Mr Big
THe The were worth the extra £2.50

Come a long long, come a long long way
I've seen Matt Johnson several times and would love to see him on the line up!
Besides his soundtrack work he's is overdue to pop up again at some point.
I saw them in the mid 90s, I think they opened for Depeche Mode on the Devotional tour. Pretty good, kind of depends on who he has backing him up.
I've been waiting way too long. Yes, please.
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
Isn't Matt Johnson essentially a recluse now though?
Infected is one of my favorite albums ever and I'm ridiculously attached to this song, synths and cheesy horns and all:
I guess they sound dated, but the lyrical content is still quite pertinent.
Has he done anything after Dusk worth checking out?
My favorites are Burning Blue Soul, Soul Mining & Infected but Naked Self is worth checking out. He's been active lately doing soundtrack work so that could be a sign that he might do another record or maybe tour. See below for more info on his latest release.
