I had to leave out so many good shows (Love Is All, Dananananaykroyd, The Mae Shi etc).

The National, Efterklang - Store Vega, Copenhagen.
Bon Iver - Primavera Festival, Barcelona.
Holy Fuck, Free Blood - 100 Club, London.
Portishead(2nd Set) - Primavera Festival, Barcelona.
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The Borderline, London.
    My Morning Jacket - Coachella.
Stars Of The Lid, Lichens - St Giles Church, London.
The Black Keys - Wiltons Music Hall, London.
Nada Surf, Rogue Wave - The Scala, London.
The Grates - Ormond Hall, Melbourne.

Special mention has to go to Monotonix - I remember very little about the music, but it was so damn entertaining.

    3. Radiohead @ Thunderbird Stadium
    4. Gogol Bordello @ Commodore Ballroom (Oct 11)

    6. The Avett Brothers @ The Plaza Club
    7. Nine Inch Nails @ Pemberton
8a. Monotonix @ The Biltmore Cabaret
    8b. Monotonix @ Bumbershoot
8c. Monotonix @ Richards on Richards
    9. Battles @ Sasquatch
    10. Man Man @ Bumbershoot

    Honourable Mentions

    1. Radiohead - Hollywood Bowl 8/25
    2. Radiohead - Hollywood Bowl 8/24
    3. Radiohead - Outside Lands 8/22
    4. M.I.A. - Coachella 4/25
    5. Sigur Rós - Greek Theatre 10/2

    8. SebastiAn - Coachella 4/24
    9. Coldplay - The Forum 7/21
    10. Diplo - Coachella 4/24

Girl Talk gets honorable mention, he threw a great party at the Music Box but I still think he's a douchebag.

M.I.A. - There are reasons why I placed her that high, I know it's common knowledge her set was a trainwreck.

On an interested note, people who have posted in this thread, here is my question to you:

About how many shows did you go to this year? Not individual acts, but overall concerts. So, Coachella, Bonnaroo, etc would all count as a single "show" by my system.

86 total shows.... if you see two bands at two different venues does it count as two shows? also do seeing bands at jimmy kimmel or whatever count, cause i didnt count seeing the pumpkins or QOTSA or some of the other bands i watched while doing audiance coordination with 1iota...

i did see ozma and the friendly fires each 6 times and the smashing pumpkins, stars, jenny lewis (since she was doing the residency at spaceland with her boyfriends band) and robyn 4 times.

I didn't include any local shows on my list. Are we supposed to? Am I also supposed to count shows where my bands play and I watch the other band? If so, I atteneded a lot more shows. But I don't think those really count...

10 best off the top of my head (I'm sure that I will forget some good ones):

    1. Sigur Ros - Grand Ballroom
    2. The Hold Steady - 40 Watt Club
    3. Wolf Parade - Terminal 5
    4. Coachella (it's hard to compare this to a normal concert though)
    5. Rival Schools - Mercury Lounge
    6. Trail of Dead - Santos Party House (just Conrad and Jason)
    7. Explosions in the Sky - Terminal 5
    8. M83 - Bowery Ballroom

    10. Nada Surf - Bowery Ballroom

    Biggest disappointments:

In most cases, if someone is playing live I count it. Also many local bands still have albums out and stuff. Sometimes I would see up to 3 shows in 1 day like when I saw No Age/Abe Vigoda/Miko Mika play around noon, then went to go see I See Hawks In LA/Chapin Sisters in the late afternoon then finished off with the Preacher's Son somewhere else in the evening.

A lot of the coffehouse stuff I didn't even keep track of. I drink a lot of coffee and at least it was a way to force myself away from the computer but I would often only do that if I hadn't been to any other shows that week.

I don't play in a band so don't know how to count that but I know a lot of people who show up, play their set and leave.
