OK so I'm not going to Hard fest because I live far far away(Edmonton, AB). :-( so jealouse but I drove down to Calgary and saw Soulwax last night (October 28) as they are playing HARD in two days I expect their set/show will be very similar to tonights, what with all of the required preparation for a mixed live show. so if you want to read about what the show was like (Spoiler Alert!) read on.
Most of you have probably seen their dvd by now, so you have some idea already.
OK so I saw Soulwax at Coachella in 07 when they played the album Nite Versions live which was soooo awesome but I'm telling you right now their show has gotten way way way better since then. Last night was the happiest I've been since daft punk.
So they've started playing their Soulwax Remixes of other acts' songs. and still mixing their whole set together like a dj would. it is insanely sweet.
Last night they played for about 75 minutes which is longer than I expected since at Coach they played about 55 minutes and same goes for the live at Fabric show that is included as the bonus cd that comes with Part of the Weekend Never Dies DVD. So expect them to overlap with Boys Noize by 10-15 minutes and expect about 5 minutes changeover b'w Soulwax and Justice.
Set List from Calgary AB Soulwax show
OK so some of these are in order and some of these are not, to indicate the mixes that I am sure about will be underlined
Accidents and Compliments
Tiga - Move My Body
LCD Soundsystem - Get Innocuous (Remix)
Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow (Remix)
Robbie Williams - Lovelight (Remix) (I am not totally sure they played this but I think so)
Daft Punk - Robot Rock (Remix)
Justice - Phantom Pt. II (Remix)
Human Resource Vs. 808 State - Dominator (Remix)
I don't think they played Teachers or Compute but they might have, and they definitely didn't play I Love Techno or Krack which is a bit of a bummer because those are my two favourite soulwax songs not including remixes. But those remixes they played are all my favourites so I think this show was way sweeter.
There was also a bunch of stuff that I didn't recognize too.
