Ivy, Tell us your most embarrassing wish I could crawl in a hole story.
Kiltlifter is so good, the wedding I went to had kiltlifter on tap, same with the golf course I played out...
What would be the one group, band, person you would want to play Coachella 09?
chairmenmeow47 is posting live from randy's bedroom, so i'm taking these one at a time
well, the first thing i can remember is queen greatest hits. the awesome version with flash gordon. i remember my dad and i riding around in his truck/bronco thing jamming out to that. i guess that started me off on a road to loving fun, dramatic music with variety and killer vocals.
as a kid, i fucking loved musicals. i was a musical theatre kid, so i listened to a lot of that, like les miserables, miss saigon, godspell, joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat, ect. i was also a fan of 50s/60s pop type stuff like elvis, dion and the belmonts, ect. at school, we listened to a lot of hip hop/rap, so i also had that going. i loved that "that girl is poison" song cause my name is ivy, lol.
as i hit my pre-teen days, i moved more into the beatles and classic rock. my parents had the record player in the same room as the computer, so i would listen to sgt. pepper while playing load runner on ye old macintosh 8100/80 av. i also started getting into more alternative stuff around this time. green day was a love of mein in 8th grade. fuck the haters, 1039 smoothed out slappy hours is a good album. the clueless soundtrack really stands out too.
what i remember most about 8th grade specifically is great skate (roller skating rink) allnighters. that's where i first really started appreciating a lot of the hip hop i'd been exposed to, electro, old school funk type stuff.
once i went to boarding school, i got introduced to skankin pickle, the aquabats, mephiskaphleles, the dead kennedys, sex pistols, misfits, decendents, ect. i had these two punk rockers as roommates who schooled me good. the trainspotting favourite was a favourite of mein and the first
when i got back to public school, i became quite the rude girl. my girlfriend jill started taking me to ska shows and i was hooked. i loved the skatalites, toots, slackers, kongo shock, ect. i also still listened to a lot of alternative stuff and hip hop/rap too.
my senior year is when i first started listening to edm. the dreaded hardcore started it all, but quickly i moved to jungle and dnb like r.a.w. and danny the wildchild.
after high school, i started living with a guy 5 years older than me who kindled my love of all things 80s and synth. another guy i dated after him really got me even further into it and eventually i dug more into the cure, radiohead, ect.
i guess that's where i am now. throughout all these years i've kept a love for classical piano, classic rock and old standards, taking my time to delve into artists as an opportunity presents itself. i completely admit i'm not really the type to just go seeking out tons of new music. i generally like to be referred by people or a moment or something and i go from there. i also don't illegally download unless desperate (and i have someone else do it then), so i'm not as "well listened" as i should be. but i'm really open to most any kind of music, or performance really, so long as it's passionate and entertaining.
Yes, I regularly masturbate over the person of the week. Then I follow it up with catholic guilt and smack my penis relentlessly.
That antir freeze story is crazy shit. Thinking of all your stories you've been through some fucked up trauma in your life.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

Wow. Some of these stories are pretty intense.
Ivy, when do you start using "mein" and why?
Ivy, because I'm such a private person, I'm especially interested in how freely you discuss so much of your life. Can you tell us a bit about your boundaries for public and private parts of your life? Are there parts of your life you would feel uncomfortable sharing on an internet message board? Do you share more here than you do in person? How do you feel about secrets?
it's so embarrassing i'm not going into details, but i took acid and drank way too much, puked all over & broke a bathtub faucet. i was like 17 at the time. woke up wearing only my friend's jacket in an el camino she was driving that wasn't hers. i asked, "why am i naked?"
"you got drunk." she said.
"and why are you driving steve's car?"
"you got really drunk".
so funny. the lady at denny's gave me free toast and crackers since i looked so awful (once we snuck into her meth head mom's house to get clothes of course).
the smiths. hand in glove live, now!!!
no we're stronger so it doesn't kill us
probably 7 years agoish.
i obviously don't take typing or handwriting very seriously. i noticed at about 15 i write like my mother so i don't take it seriously. doing shit like that cracks me up.
and i'll answer the second one in a bit... back to converting randy to lost![]()
as far as sharing...
i share because i want others to feel comfortable sharing. as i have said, i hate feeling like someone would rather lie to me than tell me how they feel about something. secrets are important and i'm probably a bit more private in person if i don't know you, but some things just are too difficult to keep a secret because i feel they are a big part of who i am.
i tried not sharing, i tried keeping lots of secrets. i didn't tell people i had been raped for months because i felt guilty for all i didn't do to protect myself. it's good to have that guilt because it keeps you from making similar mistakes in the future, but it's bad not to share because i'm not the type who can hide what's going on with me so i'd rather the people i care about knew so they could help me.
i also don't feel like many people read this thread all the way through. i have, but i know it's not a large group who does. so i'm not really afraid of people reading this and if they do i guess it means that it's time for a change. i do try to keep certain things off my myspace, my journal is private and i'm a bit different at work. i do worry about sharing anything that could perhaps cost me my job, but in general sharing is a lot easier than hiding who you are. avoid a lot of conflict that way.
Thanks for answering my questions.
And awesome, I support all Lost activities. I can't wait for the new season! They just turned a street near my work into a New York subway station for filming the other day, so I am horribly curious to see how that fits into the plot line.
Ivy, if you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? Take into consideration ability to support yourself, proximity to family, cultural offerings, or any other factors that may be significant to you.

i would love to get to see shit like that about lost. i'm glad i'm watching again with randy, cause you forget so much during the breaks!
while i love arizona, i would probably answer san francisco. while the laws are a bit nutty, i love the mass transit and i just love the city. so much great food, great buildings and friendly people for the most part.
i've also always wanted to take a winter off to live in a mountain town, get a shitty job and just board all day and write in the evenings. that would be swell.
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
arnzt!
let's go
cinnamon life. with 2% milk. as far as how much of the bowl is filled with milk, not much. i like my cereal crunchy. cinnamon life rules because it's a good milkless cereal and i always let the milk expire.
remember the horrible pictures of people jumping from the WTC buildings during the bombings: if you were one of them, and jumped on purpose, what do you think you would think of while falling ...****
