I might be calling you soon.

But when I hear tech support I think of Vanilla Sky. Not that, IMO, that's a bad idea.

I have a two-part question. First, what is your fondest memory of partying on a certain Chicago rooftop, and second, what was your favorite Radiohead song from the live show you got a couple days later?

Patrick, have you ever seen someone die? If so, what happened and how did it make you feel?

And i'd like to ask the standard question: What was the worst physical pain you have experienced? Please tell the story.

Getting busted the police and them not really caring.

I wasn't expecting 'Street Spirit,' 'Climbing Up The Walls,' or 'End Music (For A Film),' but I got them. But I was so excited when they ended with 'Everything In Its Right Place' that I threw my fists up in the air involuntarily when the opening notes played, mostly because at that point I had given up on them playing it.

I don't believe I've ever seen anyone die in front of my eyes. If I have, it obviously hasn't left enough of an effect for me to even remember it. I've had one close friend, a couple of not-quite-so-close friends, and all my grandparents die. My close friend died mysteriously in her sleep after months of heavy drug use. It was an aneurysm that started as a blood clot in her lungs, but they weren't sure what caused it. It was pretty disorientating when I found out she had died, but I never really broke down or anything. I just kind of spent a quiet week holed up in my room. I haven't been totally devastated by anyone's death yet. Usually I'm just kind of surprised and then it sinks in slowly over time.

I've had two good friends my age murdered in the last 2 years, and grieving is a weird thing. I haven't really come to terms with it yet, I don't think, I've just remained in a quiet state of shock about it. I forgot about the cops dude! Great time that night.

And I can't believe you got Climbing and Exit Music, jealous.

How much longer do you envision yourself withstanding Ohio and the Midwest?

I go through cycles of despair and acceptance. Having music festivals to look forward to next year is helping me maintain a degree of sanity, and Craigslist is helping me not implode with sexual frustration. I'm pretty much going to have to stay here until I figure out a way to be either a capable, stable, independent, and productive citizen or an effective scheming, degenerate, freedloading scumbag.

I didn't have a job and I think I had just dropped out of school, so I had to have my mom send them to me. Someone referred me to a cheap dentist on Sunset. So I went there and scheduled an appointment, and it was going to be pretty cheap. Luckily, my mom had money to send to get it done. I show up and the dentist sticks me with anesthetic. After awhile he comes back, and I tell him I'm not totally numb, so he sticks me again. Finally, he starts working on them, and the anesthetic just isn't working. For about half an hour he tries to work on them, and I'm feeling it the entire time, and he keeps sticking me with the anesthetic, which is doing barely anything for me. I ended up crying for the first time in like 10 years or something. He eventually gives up and refers me to an oral surgeon, sending me home with nothing stronger than some Advil and mouth full of burning pain and blood.

Getting put under by an oral surgeon is significantly more expensive, and I'm so unbelievably grateful my mom had the money to send me to be able to do it. Once I finally got into the oral surgeon's office, they put me right under, I woke up about a half hour later with my teeth and all the pain gone. They gave me some vicodin, but I didn't really need it. I was a little sore, but it was nothing compared to the pain my teeth were giving me while they were in.

I hope for yr sake the anesthesia works. If not, I'd save up to be put under.
Damn. One of my worst pain stories involves the anesthetic not working. Mine involved a scalpel and my ear.

I'm very emotional but I don't cry. I used to a lot when I was a kid, then I think I convinced myself I was a pussy for crying. Now I can't even cry even when I really want to.

Have you ever had what you would consider a "spiritual" experience? Not a bitchen moment, but one of those other worldly things that just floors your entire being and shakes your reality type things? If so, what happened?

I don't know. I don't particularly believe in the existence of a spirit, so that's kind of a difficult question to answer. I've had moments where I've felt greater than myself and aware of things I've never been aware of (usually on drugs). I guess the most spectacular one was during Portishead this year. I was having a great time all weekend, and then I candyflipped for the first time and watched that devastating performance, and it was the mostly otherworldly experience I've ever had. But I've never had an experience where I've felt the presence of a higher being or a supernatural being or anything like that. I spend most of my life in kind of a haze of uncertainty, so some times I feel like a ghost myself. There isn't much I concretely believe in, so I feel like reality shifts around me a lot based on my mood. Existence is a pretty fucking strange concept in general, and I find day to day life strange and absurd, so I've had trips to Target that have seemed just as implausible at the time as the second coming of Jesus would seem.

I'd also like to clarify. While I don't believe in a spirit per se, I'm pretty agnostic on all things, and I do think there is a section of the human that isn't totally explainable by science. Somewhere in the grey zone between where all the parts that are scientifically explainable are connected. I just highly doubt that it is a separate entity that lives on after the brain dies, although anything's possible.

How do you feel about paranormal phenomena? Or maybe that's what you're referring to... I have a hard time believing there isn't an afterlife if there are in fact such things as spirits, and do you think that ghosts, for example, are indicative of the possibility of a spirit or soul?

I lean agnostic myself, but this is a conundrum my friends and I have been discussing lately and I'm curious what you think.

If there is, in fact, an afterlife, I think it resembles Beetlejuice. Also, I hope there's aftersuicide and afterabortions.

if it was discovered that your and only your feces held the cures to both cancer and AIDS, and you had to give up your life for the next 25-30 years(pretty much eradicating your youth)so you could undergo thorough and constant testing and subsequent mass production to develop your feces into an ingestible medicine that would be distributed throughout the world, would you do it? you would not profit from this at all except for having a shelter and food provided for you during your years of testing.

Probably not, unless I got cancer or AIDS.

I believe you are looking for Bug on your lip. I, unfortunately, was not blessed with the savage blood pulsing through my veins that would allow me to scalp a white man. I would, however, pay full admission price to watch either one get scalped.
