Do you guys know how I can start an account on Collected Animals? Is it basically closed for good?
I have not been tracking the progression of these songs as close as most of you, but they sound so much different when compared to their other work. It's nice.
Yeah, I just played it and was like 'oh ok''
but at the same time it's dangerously close to......I don't know, fuck it.
I do like how similar they sound to their respective live performances, makes things a little easier. Same thing happened with Strawberry Jam. I kinda miss the piano on "My Girls" though... they have that new trippy keyboard going. Meh.
So this song gets better with each listen. But fuck it's so accessible. I'm really thrown off right now.
I've said since HCTI came out that this band would be the best pop band of our generation... They are proving me so fucking right...
Want more of a mind fuck, they said that the visual album stuff they are working on right now is the most experimental stuff they've ever done...
I have a feeling they are going to hit right back with a really fucked curveball.
I was expecting them to take the Strawberry/Person pitch sound and expand on it, but these are straight up delicious pop songs. It is really odd.
I think when everyone expects somebody to just keep on being weird, they will end up just being straight up and it will still confuse people.
I read a great joint interview with Liars and Deerhunter the other day, and they talked about how people expect them to be experimental acts, and how they think the most experimental thing they could do at some point was to record pop-based songs, becuase if they were to stay with the constant noise and distortion, it'd be what is expected of them. They experiment with writing in different styles, and to them that's what being a truly experimental band means.
Ween is so experimental
*based upon tedious fact checking.
Thank GOD for this board!
Collected Animals is so lame.
Thanks for the song!
wait a minute. ...
I'm listening to it now.. What do you all think of the quality? Sounds a little rougher than I thought it would. (is it just a low bitrate, or what?)
It's not the best rip... But it's passable for now. It definitely needs nice speakers... It actually doesn't sound that good in nice headphones. This is clearly a speaker album.
Having heard all the leaked bits I gotta say..
I think Also Frightened will be my favorite.
Bluish is beautiful.
BroSport is awesome, but sadly I don't think I'll listen to it much.
and My Girls.. I like it. It's reaaaal similar to the live version, which is fine.. But My Girls wasn't my favorite of the bootlegs. They did a great job with it. It's just not my favorite new song.
I think Summertime Clothes and Lion in a Coma are going to rule my face though.
Also can't wait for the rest. Especially Daily Routine, In the Flowers, and No More Runnin.
silly question maybe but... will they actually be playing brothersport and my girls?
I had an impression that their setlists are more 'anything goes' than predictable or current songs.
They might... Normally there is a song or two from the previous album that becomes a staple of every show of the next tour... Fireworks was the big one last time, it was stretched along with a really old track called Essplode.
You never know with them though. They've already toured this material a lot more than they have other albums.
I wouldn't be very surprised if the setlists for the January dates aren't much different than those of 2008. In fact, I'm betting on it. Just makes sense logically, if not traditionally... they were just playing overseas in November, it would seem odd to radically change their set in less than two month's time. I just don't really think their new work is quite ready yet for the live setting (still possible though). If anything, there may be a new song or two, but it will be dominated by MPP with a couple older goodies. If you look up their sets from the past two months that should give you a pretty good idea, they don't differ much from each other.
Oh yeah... The January dates are anybody's guess because it's a mini-tour and juszt a couple dates... I was mainly talking about the spring tour...
Like I said before, anybody's guess.
The new versions of Chocolate Girl, Who Could Win a Rabbit, Doggy, Hey Light, and Essplode fucking rule.
They should revamp Purple Bottle, (maybe) Grass, Winter's Love (???)...
who knows? But from what I remember, they have alluded to reintroducing more old songs.
