I was referring to the artwork of MPP, not the album. Clearly the cover FEELS posted trumps it. Real talk though:

It was really important for us to do something that sounded a little bit rawer, more excitable. Higher energy. To me, Merriweather has this more mellow atmosphere; the pace and tempos on this one are a lot quicker. We just wanted to do a lot of jammers, and not a lot of ambient, spacey stuff. It was nice to take a break from that.

It's more based on a combination of the songs we've heard and the band members' interviews. They seem to speak of the sound heading back to a more rhythmic, raw direction, like their older material. All this points to good signs, IMO.

A smaller LA show on the 24th would also be nice...

That would be nice. Because as it stands... I'm looking at going to Seattle and then going to ATP from there.

I'd kill for a smaller LA gig, I'd rather not go to the Bowl if I can help it.

    Fingers crossed.

I can't decide whether to go to both Animal Collective shows in Oakland or just one.

I should probably just do one so I can also afford a Beach House ticket.

I would be most welcoming of another Troubadour show, although I doubt I'd be able to score tickets this time around.
Hollywood Forever would be nice too but not very "small".

I've never seen them and really wanna go but man those ticket prices are KILLER. If the bowl gig doesn't sell out would they still be able/allowed to add a smaller show?

I don't even want to entertain Grizzly Bear as a possibility right now, I already have Edward Sharpe and Dirty Projectors on my plate. Treasure Island soon too. September/October is too much on my wallet right now.

Speaking with The Stool Pigeon, Dibb talked about the direction AnCo are favoring with the album:

"I remember saying, 'This is going to be harder for people to swallow.' There's no doubt about it: people are going to react to this….There was an instant melodic gratification to Merriweather and I think we intentionally made a record this time that is a lot more…um… [laughs] We took a left turn at weird town."

"From the first note of Merriweather you’re like, 'Oh my God, I just wanna dance' or 'My heart's exploding.' This is more like, 'This is amazing but I'm confused and I don't quite know what's going on and I think I need to listen to it again and maybe I should turn it off.'"
    Love it.

Josh is exaggerating. It might be like that for *some* of the newbs who latched on at MPP. For older fans, it will be more like you'll have wood.

If Centipede Hz causes an erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, contact your drug dealer immediately.

The blue/yellow stuff in they eye looks similar to the live art they were broadcasting at Coachella. I could buy it.

The title reminds me of Total Recall lettering for some reason. Or some 80's action flick.

From their Facebook page this morning:
Hey, Centipede Hz pre-orders are up now on our new online store (the baby steps towards a real website continue)!

    http://dominorecordco.com/centipedehz

The album is available in 3 formats - Deluxe LP, Standard LP, and CD. The details of each format can be found on the page. All pre-orders will come with a bonus DVD including HD audio of the album, and live video excerpts from our Prospect Par...k show in 2011.

Be sure to check out the rest of our store at http://www.myanimalhome.net/store.

We're still in the process of collecting all available items from our back catalog to have for sale on there, as well as old shirts, posters and some other exclusives that we're thinking about, so if you don't see what you want, please check back another time.

    Enjoy and take care,
    AC
