Right. The setlist I posted was for the Fonda in 2007.

Really? That's what I thought at first, but that's a ton of MPP songs, they really played that many back in '07? Strange.
5/05 - Thee Oh Sees - The Smell
    5/08 - The Acid - El Rey (?)
    5/14 - Melody's Echo Chamber - Roxy (?)
    5/20 - Hiatus Kaiyote - Roxy (?)
    5/23 - Ceremony - Echoplex (?)

That's what I was saying earlier:

I have a feeling AC likes to keep their best material on hold for a while to get it perfect for when they need to release another CD.

That would have been after Strawberry Jam, so it makes sense. I definitely saw them play Peacebone without Deakin though.

Oh and when I was doing Coachella research in 2008 and first got into them, of course I found out they play new stuff live. There were plenty of recordings out there with those songs. I knew them all and was one of very few singing along.

My favorite set from Animal Collective was their most recent at Coachella. Last week was my 7-9th times seeing them, I was looking forward to all the new material. The first 6 times seeing them was from Coachella 08 to ATP 09, so I saw all of the MPP stuff plenty. Excluding Bluish because I don't think that was ever played live, I've seen every song from MPP except Taste, most multiple times. Maybe it was partially the drugs, but every song was incredible. I really dug how noisy it was and everything they did to the old songs. Plus the visuals. Ridiculous. I need a full good quality recording of this! My next favorite set was Big Sur.

Thank you. I may end up running late that night (taking my wife to LAX), but I would like to catch Foot Village if possible.

Well, after I was on the fence about going, Avey Tare blew me away last night at The Catalyst. I would have been really sad to have missed that. Inca Ore totally killed it too.

Oakland show was so good. Song for Jerome and Sometimes both sound great.

Is Drawlings his sister? she had one song that I really enjoyed (something about being stranded at sea) but the rest seemed a little undeveloped.

I like that he is exploring the darker side of MPP with his solo work. I like some of it a lot better than MPP.

Great show. The two "old songs" were great (I loved how he diced up Lucky 1) and the new shit has got be laid down at some point. Must have.

I'm really glad Dave finally gave in to touring. It's a shame the Down Below stuff was so personal, on the one hand. Hopefully more of it will be played at some point. Scratch that. We probably just heard the only two songs that he'll ever play from that album.....ever.

I thought the show was awful, well not awful but mediocre for how good that album is. The opener is a pompous dick who can go fuck himself though.

Ah, I can safely say that song is one of the most emotional/amazing songs ever recorded. I'm so jealous of all you and wished I could have gone! Especially knowing the fact this will probably be the only time he performs Down There material live

Here's some great-quality footage of him playing LH at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. One word: goosebumps.

I liked the last album a lot, but I was somewhat worried that with the success of MPP that the band would continue down that road. And I'm pretty fucking ecstatic to report that that is not true. The two songs from this Record Store Day EP are in no way polished or focused or pop leaning, and are more reminiscent of their pre-Sung Tongs days if anything.
5/05 - Thee Oh Sees - The Smell
    5/08 - The Acid - El Rey (?)
    5/14 - Melody's Echo Chamber - Roxy (?)
    5/20 - Hiatus Kaiyote - Roxy (?)
    5/23 - Ceremony - Echoplex (?)

Is that the actual direction they are going though? I thought this EP was just a "collage" of the random loops made as background music for their Guggenheim exhibit

well the newer material with Deacon that they played last year didn't sound anything like MPP so personally I'm expecting a lot of weird from them in the future.

I hadn't heard that, but after just finishing listening to both tracks that sounds like a very likely scenario.
