For those that missed.
Queens of the Stone Age
For Sale: Thursday May 30th
For Sale this Thursday is my poster for the triumphant return of QOTSA. They are being summoned out of the desert. Their new (sixth!) album is called Like Clockwork. So I dreamt about a stone age clock.. a sundial... starting with that sundial concept, it morphed into worshiping a stone age Queen. Since the band is called the plural QueenS, I made it 2 queens. A little shaman dude turns his bull skull into the double deities above him... in the desert landscape that the band is so familiar with.

Getting my new queens poster framed and am considering this one. thoughts? It's just a stock photo I threw in, dimensions will be correct once it arrives.
Close up of frame. It is gold with red detailing:
edit: couple more color variations:
Or are these frames too busy? Maybe straight up black be better?

I like the first one, but they're all great with that poster.
Middle one is just gold and black. I am stuck between the first 2, ahh!
First one makes the poster seem brighter, second one darker... I think the 2nd one fits better considering the imagery.
Coachella 07 (the introduction), 08 (the bands), 09 (the documentary), 10 (the people i came with), 11 (the relationship test... we passed), 12 (whatever the weather, Dirty Epic forever), 13 (the year of the troll)

The space you're putting it in should be a factor too.
I personally would probably never frame a print like that, I'd only go with plain black or some other dark matte color, but I think the either f the first 2 would work well.

#2 if you go with those. You should ask them to send you samples before you pay for it though or see if you can find them in a local frame shop. I'm wary of anything that may have a shine to it. Sometimes it works, a lot of the time it looks way tacky to me. But really, depends on the space.
I got this frame at aaron bros, upgraded the backing to acid free and all that good stuff. $22 total for 20x30 frame essentially, very pleased with that sale they had going on over the holiday weekend.
Playing around with matting out the white border entirely. Makes the print feel a lot more sinister, and it almost looks like there is a 2nd under-matte with that small gold border he has around the image. Sharp looking.
But then you get into the signature area and the white border being a different length at the bottom. I like having it like this somewhat. Anyways, something to be done later on perhaps.
I do really wish they could just make posters a standard size sometimes. Why the fuck is this thing 19 1/2 x 29? Add a damn inch an a half to the overall dimensions so custom framing isn't as necessary.
I was thinking the same thing about covering the white border completely.
Is there any matting in that Aaron bros. frame?
No, I just put it in a 20x30 frame. Because of the frames rabet you can hardly tell its too small for that. Used black foamcore for the backing, so even with the small amount of space on the sides you don't notice it unless you're up close.
I've been picking up each piece of Dave Perillo's Star Wars Trilogy through Acme Archives, every other month now IIRC. Really pleased to have completed it today. They look great in person. Each is 12x36" edition of 250.
