Two of my coworkers have a booth at Comic Con, so I had one of them check Kevin Tong's booth for the recent Mogwai poster. Just got a call saying he was able to get one. So fucking happy right now.
I love Kevin Tong. Man of the people.
I saw the picture of his booth on twitter and it was loaded! Great score, and great friends heh.
Tomorrow will be poster porn from Chicago. Flatstock at Pitchfork! And also Ill post whatever poster they made for this year too.
Budich gets shit for being a Stout rip-off with his face collages but he puts out some nice stuff in a different vain. I wish he did more like this, it's really nice:
ope, big picture is big. o well.
Nucleus Gallery have a Beatles exhibit "All Together Now" going on right now
They have some open edition giclee prints available now. I really enjoy the Scott C one. Got a copy. Some other great pieces if you click around the site.
For anyone that's ever missed out on a Olly Moss or Mondo print and has been sad:
Hereís my officially-licensed poster for The Dark Knight Rises.
Itís a 16x24 screen print on cream stock, and it will go on sale for 24 hours at 12:01am CT Wednesday the 18th of July for $40 from www.mondotees.com . Itís a timed edition, so anybody who orders within those 24 hours is guaranteed a print.
Ha, I think if they did timed releases regularly the appeal would drastically disappear but I think it'd be awesome to have 1 or 2 a year. Or never again. Either way a lot of people seem to be very happy to be able to finally get a mondo poster or not have to worry about getting a print for their loved franchise and biggest movie of the year. At least the incessant flipping that comes with all of Mondo's releasing will go out the window some, and if people still want a super limited release they can drop some cash on the 24x36 SDCC variant that only has a run of 120.
I'll be buying one. Its a bold image and I have another piece of his that its in the 16x24 size. And you get a chance at the Olly Moss Golden Ticket:
One last thing, Olly has decided that he wants to give fans a special treat. When you buy a poster, you will have the chance to receive a GOLDEN TICKET. It will be randomly inserted into a poster tube and with this ticket, you will be able to have Olly do a poster for you. That’s right…. pretty much whatever you want. Like, if you want a SPLASH poster or something…. I’m sure he’ll be down. All I’m saying is that this is your chance to get the Olly piece that you’d always wish he would do. Pretty cool, right?
yea that golden ticket idea is pretty awesome...i don't know what I would choose if i got it. what would you request?
that's fucking hilarious that they mention Splash specifically hahaha
12/10/15 - Kamasi Washington @ Club Nokia // 12/12/15 - HEALTH @ Teragram Ballroom // 12/19/15 - Pity Sex @ Echo // 2/13/15 - Black Sabbath @ Mandalay Bay Events Center
3/19/15 - Clint Mansell @ Theater at Ace Hotel // 3/26/15 - Greg Dulli @ Teragram Ballroom
I think I would ask him to do something Pixar. Olly's best stuff comes from him being a fan of the property I think so he could still pick something that grabs him personally. Or he could do a larger scene kind of piece like his adventure time one with many pixar characters:
I'd like to chat with him for a while before committing to something. The possibilities are endless. Your choice?
I copped one of those Frank Ocean posters at the show last night. wooot
with the golden ticket, i would have olly do a pee wee's big adventure one
I would want fanastic planet
Deerhunter @ 9:30 Club 12/05/15
Deerhunter @ Union Transfer 12/06/15
A Place to Bury Stranger @ Milk Bar 01/02/16
Car Seat Headrest @ Indy 01/20/16
Kamasi Washington @ Indy 02/25/16
Neurosis @ Regency Ballroom 03/04/16 & 03/05/16
The Cure @ Shoreline Ampitheater 05/26/16
Horkey nailed Fantastic Planet earlier this year. I cant imagine Olly's take on it.
For the love of all that is holy in posterdom I hope that the golden ticket doesn't end up on ebay.
Extremely nerdy of me, but I just sent Justin from Mondo an email wishing for him to make it non-transferable and to take note of name/address. It'd break my heart a bit to see it re-sold. I'd much rather it go hidden in a poster tube lost forever than that.
Olly said they'd print of 2-5 copies of his design for you if you win, so that you can gift them to friends and things.
Too bad this Batman run is going to reach 15k I bet...
i wonder if the number of the edition you get has to do with the order in which you purchase
I highly doubt it'll be 15k. I think it'll be like 5k maybe.
Well 12,000 people went for The Avengers by Stout. This is Batman paired with Olly Moss who besides Stout is one of the biggest modern poster artists around...I think it'll be 10,000+
Yeah but The Avengers was actually a good poster. This one is quite underwhelming.
