I remember when I went to see the Knife at the El Rey. I had an extra ticket and couldn't get any of my friends to go.

    It was an awesome show.

posted in another thread....yes very excited...

    http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/articl...album-tomorrow
Karin Dreijer Andersson is one half of the Knife, whose Silent Shout was only our favorite album of 2006. As previously reported, the Swedish singer is going solo with her new project Fever Ray. Based on the so-eerie-you-really-need-to-watch-it-now video for first single "If I Had a Heart", fans of Silent Shout won't have a hard time loving Fever Ray's self-titled debut, out on CD March 24 in the U.S. (via Mute), March 23 in Australia/New Zealand (via etcetc), and March 18 in Scandinavia (via Rabid) and the UK/rest of Europe (via Cooperative Music).

Don't feel like waiting that long to get lovingly creeped the fuck out? You're in luck-- the whole record will be available in the increasingly popular digital download format tomorrow, January 13. Yes, that's the day after today. Just stare at the album's cover up there-- featuring Andersson conjuring what looks like an emptied paper-towel roll-- until then...

And, in case you thought "If I Had a Heart" wasn't compressed and distorted enough to get your nerd party going, there's still hope: Laptop terrorists Fuck Buttons have remixed the track, which will be available on the 7" single format, out February 10.

    Fever Ray:

    01 If I Had a Heart
    02 When I Grow Up
    03 Dry & Dusty
    04 Seven
    05 Triangle Walks
    06 Concrete Walls
    07 Now's the Only Time I Know
    08 I'm Not Done
09 Keep the Streets Empty for Me
    10 Coconut

Video: Fever Ray: If I Had a Heart [from forthcoming Fever Ray LP]

It's good. Not nearly as good as Silent Shout, but very good.

They drop her vocals down a couple octaves to get that sound. The Knife did that on Silent Shout as well. She mentioned that she likes being able to have a male and female vocal dynamic while doing everything herself. Plus it's cool when they double it in her normal range.

Now's The Only Time I Know is my favorite track on the album. Makes me want to get up and dance around like Olof in the Pass This On video (below).

I love Triangle Walks as well. Very Knife like with the pentatonic chord progression and the samples. This album is rad. I am slightly afraid of over-listening.

According to itunes I am on my 13th time through. I'm almost done with it again, so I should take a break for a little while.

i totally dig this album. it's not as "hard" and "bumpin'" as The Knife...but it still has that spooky ambiance that made The Knife so awesome in the first place. hope she's at coachellaaaa.

    like cold winter's breeze
    a dark surreal ambiance
    past tribal guidance

    a lonely magic tundra
    memories wander
    emerge in past reflection

    scorned enigmas float
    inside the inner-space
    glows fever ray

This is concerning and conflicting. On the one hand... WOOO HOO! Fever Ray tour dates! On the other hand... they are in Sweden. So a small March tour and then a small world tour... please? Or Coachella pretty please?

Tickets for the following shows are now available on Feverray.com:

19 March - Oslo, NO, Parkteatern
    20 March - Malmö, Babel
    21 March - Göteborg, Storan
22 March - Köpenhamn, DK, Vega
    26 March - Stockholm, Kägelbanan
27 March - Umeå, Umeå Open
28 March - Luleå, Kulturens hus

If you "click there" for tickets there is good news on the page though...

    More shows TBA.

Now I'm even more excited... Andreas Nilsson is doing the visuals for the Fever Ray tour!!!

Andreas Nilsson talks about the visuals for the Fever Ray show
    January 22nd, 2009

“The album has a mixture of acoustic and electronic sounds… something hard and visionary combined with something that is more organic. I thought the live show should embrace that feeling. I also felt it was important to separate this show from The Knife show and create something that feels more organic and less hi-tech.” Andreas Nilsson

well, I wouldn't worry too much. I can't imagine that her tour will be that much larger than the Knife's tour, so perhaps just as long as your weekends are free in May, you should be fine.
