Honestly, i would pick Yelle. I think it would be more fun. The new album is great.

Numero's been putting out their box sets of Unwound's catalog, and the one that just came out, No Energy, is absolutely essential. If you're interested in the band at all, this one's the one to start with. The Future of What can be a somewhat difficult album, with the more dissonant parts sometimes drifting off and some underwritten tracks, but when it kills it kills. And Repetition would have, in any other band's catalog, been the undeniable highlight. Aggression, precise playing, inventive songwriting and some really catchy weird melodies, it's an essential post-hardcore record, and belongs in the top of the 90s conversation without a doubt. The fact that it's either Unwound's 2nd or 3rd best record is ridiculous. Definitely buy the last box set, whenever it comes out, as Leaves Turn Inside You is pure, fucking essential.

I actually bought the second one, Rat Conspiracy, at FYF! And it was only $30 brand new from the Numero Group booth! Such a good deal, that label is so cool. I'm forever grateful for you showing me Unwound because they're one of my top favorite bands now.

    from KMFDM:

    K here:

for the past few months i've been sifting thru tons of ADAT's, multitrack tapes, DAT's and disks in an attempt to put together the ultimate KMFDM sound library, spanning the entire 30 years of KMFDM's existence.

I have tentatively named this project SOUND & DRIVE.
In a little bit from now (next couple months) i will make this library available to you in the form of a pre-order-only-purchase.

Though i am far from knowing exactly how much data it will end up consisting of once all is said and done, i can already foresee it being pretty huge. Therefore i decided to make it available in 2 different ways.

    1) a hard disk drive with all of the content on it sent to you
    2) bundles of individual album projects delivered digitally to you

File formats will be .wav, 24-bit, 44.1 kHz sampling rate.
Content will be organized by album, individual songs with parts of arrangement in linear format as well as broken down into sound categories, for instance loops with bpm stated, individual drum hits, bass lines, song starters etc.

To make it short for now, this will provide a plethora of sonic wealth for the for the professional music producer as well as for the technically inclinded KMFDM follower, using the sounds of KMFDM free of license in any way you can imagine...

It would, at this stage be helpful to hear some feedback from you, input if you have any, thoughts ideas, manifestations of interest etc., so please fire away !
This is one of the koolest things I've ever seen a band do. If I were a DJ or button pusher I'd be all up in this.

I ranked it pretty highly last year, but it's definitely a commitment that makes it more of an "on rare occasions" kind of listens.

Over the weekend I saw GWAR and near the end of the set they asked the audience to request a song by the shittiest band they knew. They then said everyone was wrong and started playing West End Girls. I couldn't help but think how happy that would've made TomAz.

I was listening to the Butthole Surfers on Youtube last night and this album was on the list of other videos I might enjoy. I had heard of them but never listened to them. I really liked this, it's like Minutemen on speed at times.

We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

    What?!

Edit:Fuck!!! I posted that because I couldn't stream the new album on my phone. I like the idea of a new project since I thought Dirty Beaches were a slight let down when I saw him and his friend play at the Echo.

I'm not sure. Haven't listened to the leak yet, but I know it's not one of the few they've shared. Anyways, it was definitely one of the greatest days of my life. Skating/dancing with some of my heros while TVOTR played a set next (besides the music video, they ended up just playing a bunch of songs) to a skatepark pool! The video should be out in about a month or so they said, I know I for sure have some cameos in it haha.

to be fair only $300 million of that would have been his.

I was going to ask who offers $800 million for anything, but when the answer is Richard Branson it kinda makes sense.

I've noticed pitchfork start referring to Win Butler as Will Butler. reminds me of the time Jim James tried to get people to start calling him Yim Yames. except this is much more sensible. hopefully this sticks and I'll never need to hear the name 'Win' again.
