I was going to recommend Arthur Lyman and then saw you have him there. He's the go-to in my mind for that style of music.

One which might fit your theme is this compilation from 1968; it's quite lounge-y, but it's still pretty fun.

If you're willing to go a bit more buckwild with the sounds, I'd also recommend Tropicalia: ou Panis et Cirenses, the first Tropicalia compilation. Great weird psychedelic Brazilian samba-based fun.

To go along with this, I highly recommend checking out any catalogues from Soundway Records. They have some awesome psychedelic materials from the 60s/70s here: http://www.soundwayrecords.com/catalogue

I'm also listening to The Sound Of Tiki, curated by Sven A. Kirsten (who has authored several definitive tiki style books), which is fucking awesome.

And probably the strangest thing I've listened to so far is a calypso record by the actor Robert Mitchum from 1957 called Calypso Like So, which is surprisingly very entertaining, despite the absurd fake island accent he takes on

I have a lot more queued up, including all 3 volumes of Martin Denny's Exotica, A record from Arthur Lyman, a Polish Polynesian/Hawaiian album called Księżyc na Tahiti , and a two-disc compilation called Discover Jungle Shadows, put together by the guy who runs the Flash Strap blog. For good measure I have got my hands on Don Ho's Tiny Bubbles and Elvis Presley's Blue Hawaii OST, as well as a number of surf guitar compilations.

Has anybody else gotten into any of this kind of stuff?
Just one of the millions of genres I'd like to explore further and don't have the time. But I remember being intrigued by this: http://www.avclub.com/articles/exotica,38783/

I listened to Bob Dylan's Self Portrait this weekend for the first time. It was interesting, I can understand why Greil Marcus said "What is this shit?" when he first reviewed it, after the string of classic 60's albums he recorded. But it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

So I just turned on an Itunes Genius Mix for the song "Sloop John B" off of Pet Sounds and, curiously, here's what I got:

Sloop John B 2:58 The Beach Boys
Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season) 3:56 The Byrds
Carry That Weight 1:37 The Beatles
Against The Wind 5:34 Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
    Rebel Rouser 2:25 Duane Eddy
It Keeps You Runnin' 4:22 The Doobie Brothers
    Hungry Heart 3:20 Bruce Springsteen
Help Me, Rhonda 3:10 The Beach Boys
I Can See For Miles 4:23 The Who
Positively 4th Street 3:55 Bob Dylan
Mr. Tambourine Man 2:19 The Byrds
Rock and Roll 3:41 Led Zeppelin
Ticket to Ride 3:11 The Beatles
Last Train To Clarksville 2:47 The Monkees
Not Fade Away 1:49 The Rolling Stones
Caroline No 2:51 The Beach Boys
Melissa 3:48 The Allman Brothers Band
Train In Vain 3:11 The Clash
I Heard It Through The Grapevine 11:07 Creedence Clearwater Revival
Subterranean Homesick Blues 2:21 Bob Dylan
    Badlands 4:03 Bruce Springsteen
You Never Give Me Your Money 4:02 The Beatles
Night Moves 5:44 Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
    After Midnight 2:54 Eric Clapton
Fun, Fun, Fun 2:05 The Beach Boys

Yes, I know. Bob Seger. (There's a time and place for everything.)
Glad to see the Genius recognizes the Clash.

I'm curious to see what the ITunes Genius has to offer on some of your not-so-old ITunes libraries out there in radio-land.

    Who wants to play?

Make a Genius Playlist for Sloop John B and see what ya get: post it.

If you don't own Pet Sounds you should download it tonight and no one will tell ever or look down on you. Promise.

Very. I've heard About A Girl and the Love Buzz cover before, which totally don't show how the rest of the album is. Pretty brutal, in the best way possible. Paper Cuts and Negative Creep...woah.

I honestly, genuinely much prefer Bleach to Nevermind. Butch Vig's production just never suited them very well. Not denying the songs aren't great but as the years go by, Nevermind is my least listened to Nirvana album. I'm sure I've posted this several times.

Agreed. I feel like In Utero is a perfect continuation of Bleach and more representative of what the band wanted to do. That said, I'm eternally grateful for the odd catchiness of Nevermind, because it gave us a great album. At times I'll call Bleach my favorite Nirvana album though. There are so many awesome songs on it.

I've probably listened to Nevermind more than I've listened to any other album. That being said, I think it ranks 3rd for me, too. And honestly, Incesticide is nipping at its heels.

There is a proper way to learn how to become a real teenager who came of age in the 90s or later: Nevermind, then the rest of Nirvana, then the Pixies, then Sonic Youth. Other bands are permitted, maybe some Green Day or Weezer or whatever, but those three bands are the major points on the path, and if you didn't go that way in at least some permutation, you were a teenager wrong and can never advance into adulthood.
