Favorite concept albums people?
Somebody played a track from Hospice in the venue when we were waiting for Sunset Rubdown the other day. Nothing gets a party started like bone cancer.
*Enjoy Bat For Lashes.
*Do not enjoy Radiohead.
*Have no strong feelings either way regarding LCD Soundsystem.
Was it bmack recommended me Shearwater? I feel like it was bmack.
Anyway, thank you again, whoever.
I saw Autolux last night and talked to their drummer afterward and asked her about the status of the new album. She said it is complete and has been for some time, and that the reason it has not been released is because they can't find anyone to release it. I asked her why they don't release it themselves and she said that they put too much time and money into it to take that risk.
Oh man. I want to see them again. They haven't ever headlined a show through here.
the busy bee has no time for sorrow.
It seems as though self releasing something isn't the same gamble as it used to be. All they would need for a reasonable success rate is a decent write up on Pitchfork or a prominent blog or something. Of course, this comes from someone who knows absolutely nothing about the music business. Just ignorantly speculating.
Autolux album fundraiser anyone?
This made me chuckle pretty hard: Wayne Coyne and Bradford Cox clash at ATP
listening to music based on song lengths can be interesting. I've just discovered that two long songs, both clocking in at exactly 11:49 (oddly enough) - Dandy Warhols' "a load tonight" [odditorium] and Yo la Tengo's "the Story of Yo la Tengo" [i am not afraid of you and i will beat your ass] sound REALLY fucking good back to back!
This has suddenly turned into a very enjoyable 24 minutes of entering data into spreadsheets

Wayne's nice and he's a funny dude, but he's a bit too... into the idea of Wayne Coyne.

I need a lightweight .FLAC to .MP3 batch converter. Any suggestions?
Trader's Little Helper, G.
During my largest class on Tues. (450 people), the prof read the results of a silly little 'Get to know young people' survey we all filled out on the first day. For 'Favorite music you're currently listening to;' the two most popular responses were Taylor Swift and Jason Mraz... awful.
I'm just sittin' here watching the wheels go 'round and 'round...
I really love to watch them roll...
Happy Birthday John.
Erol Alkan has just uploaded a lot of mixes for you nice people to download. Grab them here.
Inspired by noticing that both Nico and Popul Vuh have apparently unrelated (genetically) songs called "Abscheid"* I decided to make a playlist of all the songs on my iPod that have the same name without being related. I figured this'd be rather easy and would be a quick listen. Wrong. I am up to 97 songs over almost 6 hours and only through letter B.
I am most excited to listen to discover songs that I didn't realize were covers.
If I were feeling ambitious and thought people would guess I might post on how many songs I ended up with and have people guess at how many covers I unknowingly included. It'd just be a blind guess, though; I doubt I'd post all the songs and no one'd want to look up everything anyway.
*Though it turns out I was wrong, the Popul Vuh song is "ie" and the Nico one is "ei." Damn words I don't know.
I don't think I'm hosting a 2016 collaborative playlist.
I tend to accidentally play Land of Talk's All My Friends when I'm looking for LCD Soundsystem's All My Friends, and vice versa. I'm okay with either option though, really.
