Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley is a shell of himself -- looking shockingly frail today as he leaned on his fiancee for support ... days after admitting he nearly died from years of hardcore drinking.

On Friday, Deryck revealed he'd been laid up in a hospital bed for a month, and confessed on his blog... "the reason i got so sick is from all the hard boozing i’ve been doing over the years. it finally caught up to me."

Deryck says his liver and kidneys collapsed, and docs have told him if he has one drink he will die.

Meanwhile, Keef is still out there touring at 70 something years old. Looking craggy for sure but better than this dude.

I have been consistently misreading The Coathangers tour dates for The Raincoats tour dates.

Also V-modas headphones are $89 on Amazon today.

Drop Nineteens are so good. One of those kinda sorta quasi-shoegaze bands that proliferated in the early 90s. The Brits got all the press, but there was interesting American stuff in the genre, too.

Heck yeah. Yeah the reason I come in here and post random songs from time to time without knowing what they are/context is that I've got all these gigantic Spotify playlists that I've made based on lists on the internet and a lot of times I just throw stuff on without knowing what it is.

So, there's gonna be a Scott Walker / Sun O))) collaborative album out later this year. That might be incredible.

this and the EP they released earlier this year make me very excited for the new winged victory for the sullen album. I like the new tracks far more than anything off the first album. (and I liked that album a lot.)

    - Ok, whatever, come over here, let's shoot the video over here. We can bathe you in an aura of golden light. Just think of how this will go over at NPR!

    - The song has nothing to do with trains or the sun or empty warehouse chic. It's about two people. Why aren't there any people? I don't think I wanna do this.

I just heard that the James Brown biopic is going to be pg-13. That's a real disappointment. How are they going to pull that off?

does anyone have good resources for listings of new releases? I often find myself wondering each week what was released that week. only I can't find good resources to tell me what was just released. a few sites / services have 'new releases' sections but often don't list more than a dozen new releases. I'm interested in a more extensive listing of what is newly available.

My bosses boss came over to me in the office while I was typing up my expense report and told me how much he liked Ought. He told me he bought a few tickets, looking for a hotel now and invited a few of his friends to go with him.I am actually more surprised that someone listened to a recommendation I gave them.
