Yes! Ya same here, I'm pretty familiar with their 90's output but haven't checked out any of their current stuff. I know they did a 20th anniversary show a couple years ago in SF with a bunch of those bands listed above, from YouTube vids it looked so great.

Looks like you need to meet this charmingly awkward young lady from England. Her name is Sarah Records and she had TONS of great bands in this vein. The Field Mice would be the ideal act to start with.

Just looked them up and yeah, I could totally see myself loving this label. Two acts I'm already familiar with and like are Boyracer and Heavenly, will definitely check out them and the others. Thanks!

If you like Heavenly you'll love the whole Sarah catalog. Tiger Trap is another act well worth checking out.

And it should go without saying if you're listening to K bands, but Beat Happening. They were genius.

For sure, yes Tiger Trap are awesome! Yeah, I lovee Beat Happening, didn't list them 'cause ya they're the obvious one. I think I remember you saying you haven't checked out The Halo Benders? If not, you should totally listen to the Rebel's Not In. Besides BH, my favorite thing Calvin has done.

Feels, if you're going to dive into Sarah Records, you'll also want to cross-reference it with the C-86 movement. There's a fair amount of overlap between the two, but that mid-80's (mostly English) period is one of my favorites.

Oh yeah! That's the compilation right? I've heard a few songs from it (The Pastels, Mighty Mighty, Shop Assistants, The Wedding Present) but have never listened to the whole thing. Need to check that out as well

Yes! One of my favorite bands of all-time, the Microphones, will be reissuing five of their albums on vinyl in what sounds like deluxe and beautiful packaging. I already have the Glow, Pt. 2 but those other ones are extremely hard to find. So this is great news.

    http://pitchfork.com/news/49719-moun...e-microphones/

(By the way, K Records still has the 2008 reissue of the Glow, Pt. 2 available. Buy it. It's a phenomenal album spread across 3 LP's. It also comes in the best packaging I've probably ever seen. K is also really personal and sent me a thank you note for the purchase, and a really cool postcard with a kitten on it along with the record. It's only $25.00 with free shipping!)

It's really frustrating when you fall in love with an atypical song from a band so that when you search out more songs like it in their discography, there's really nothing that really resembles it. Some times you still end up finding a good band or whatever, but you still keep expecting to hear the band you heard in that first song.

In this particular case, it's The Clientele - "Bookshop Casanova." I heard it on Pitchfork years ago and every time I try to listen to a full album by them I can't help but want to hear just that track even though I know the albums are probably fine in their own right if I'd take them on their own terms.

I am incredibly HAPPY about finding out that a large amount of Frank Zappa discography is on Spotify. He was the first person I type into Spotify and found nothing for him when I first got Spotify. Today on Facebook I saw someone listening to him and now I am blissfully happy about listening to Spotify.I guess i will not cancel my subscription.

I've been listening to these for the past month:

    www.crapfromthepast.com

There's mp3s of every show - years of them - at archive.org. It's fantastic, I've found lots of great songs. Might just spend the rest of the year listening to these.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

I decided to try listening to Belong's Common Era again today, for the first time in about a year. It really is as shitty as October Language is great.

I just discovered an old post-punk band called Ludus. Fucking awesome. I'm sure several of you are familiar with them and they're just new to me.

Beth Ditto got arrested this weekend here in town. Looks like it was a spectacle.

    http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/...nPDX/#a8786613

had no idea who this girl was before I went out tonight. By 1:30 Beth was completely blackout drunk challenging people to fights. My friends and I headed over to the Bungalow from the Alibi only to be met with Beth's belligerent asshole posse. We got our drinks and went out to the back, only to hear her and her friends breaking shit. Obviously I started laughing from the shenanigans.
"Wot, are you trying to say you're smarter than me?" (horrible fake British accent)
"My friends and I are trying to enjoy our drinks. Please leave us alone."
"DO YEW KNOW WHO UR TALKIN' TO? GOOGLE ME!"
    "...."
Fifteen minutes later she was arrested for being a complete fucking cunt. The bartender called the police because she kicked him in balls.
Beth Ditto, apparently you live in Portland. Go fuck yourself.

Friends. I have been to the gutter. It wasn't this bad. The kind of woman who can't hit a man, or she gets hit back like a man. Not saying I would hit a woman... but you know, she was charging and all.

I wonder if there's ever been a band that constantly changes and swaps the titles of their own songs, and announces these arbitrary changes in advance, just to see how confused the audience gets and who's been paying attention.

Why did Four Tet take all of his music off spotify? I mean, I am all for artists being in control of their own art, but fuuuuck. What is the drawback of having your music on spotify? Does he think he's going to sell more records or something? In the end, I know it's his choice and doesn't have to answer to me or any other freeloading asshole, but I listened to him ALL THE TIME and it sucks that I can't do so as easily any longer.

When I go into work to pick up a delivery, it's always for a brief time, and they're always blasting Power 106. And (I've counted), 9 times out of the past 11, Kendrick Lamar's Poetic Justice has been playing. And I go in at various times, it's not the same time each day.

Is that the biggest song in the country right now?
