It blows my mind that a lot of people only know Dinosaur Jr from Feel the Pain. Amazing band.

That was the first Dinosaur Jr. album I ever heard, and I was floored the first time I heard it too. Who new they could pull off a cover of "Show Me the Way"?

It looks like whoever posted it removed the video, but Bob Dylan's rapper grandson Pablo was quoted as saying "My grandfather definitely has a legacy that a lot of people look up to. I consider him the Jay-Z of his time."

Hella is coming back as a duo.

On August 30, Hella returns as Sargent House releases their new album Tripper.
Here's a couple tracks from it:

The only redeeming thing about that video is that I was distracted from the banal music and godawful nonsense lyrics by that huge gaping cavern that is the singer's mouth.

How old was Jeff Buckley when he died? NME from 2007 said he was 27, wikipedia said he was 30 and random other internet sources say 31.

I vividly remember watching this when it aired in 1997. I remember where I was and all of the random details. My mom was watching the Grammys, so I was watching with her. It is interesting to relive all of that.

i remember watching that, as well. there was a pitchfork interview with him yesterday. he talks about the grammys, and basically reflects back on his career.

I just realized something over the past few weeks. With Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, and the Dirty Projectors all releasing new albums next year, 2012 has the potential to be 2009 all over again as far as the heavy hitters go.

Assumedly Deerhunter will be putting out a new album next year as well. They can finally compete against the big boys (and put out the superior album.)

Those interested in psych-rock from the 70s should give this track a listen; awesome stuff!

I've been really stuck on international psych-rock lately. I bought these three compilations from Stones Throw a few months back and each is really, really good:

And, in trying to find these pictures, I stumbled upon this one I will also need to pick up:

All we would need are fever ray and sunset rubdown albums.

XLR8R's Guide to Burning Man 2012

Next Monday, the annual Burning Man festival kicks off in the middle of the Nevada desert. Free spirits and playa warriors from around the globe have already begun to descend on Black Rock City, but we here at XLR8R wanted to weigh in before the festivities got started. After scouring the web, checking out the various camps, and perusing the litany of party lineups, we've put together this can't-miss guide on how best to revel in the majesty and magic of Burning Man.

    Tip #1: Don't go.
