The night pic definitely has its own charm. I think I prefer it, actually.

The cuteness of Jake + Cory photos makes me happy. Please never stop being this cute together.
You kind of resemble Russel Brand in a way. At least in that picture.

Made by Cory:
The Grand Canyon is really beautiful to look at, and it is worth seeing at least once, but it's far better and more interesting if you can devote the time/resources to get to the bottom. There's no easy, quick way to do that (2 day out-and-back to the river; 3-4 days rim-to-rim), so it's not day hiker friendly, and riding around on the shuttle and periodically walking a few yards to various rim overlooks can quickly lose its appeal. (I'd take any of the parks in So Utah over the GC for spectacular scenery PLUS great hiking.)
That said, one of those outrageously expensive, multi-week wooden dory trips down the Colorado through the GC is on my bucket list. /derail
Here I am last month in Yosemite, freezing my ass off, trying to extract the last bit of warmth from the dying embers of our campfire (while 1litro has fun with his green laser):
Aaaaaaaand I'm spent.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.

Well, yeah, you have to hike down into it (although you can also cheat and helicopter in and out of there). But it honestly sounds like something that is right up your alley. The tourists suck, but if you go in the off season and during the week, it's much quieter. The South Rim on a Saturday in July = bad bad news.
Nick and Eli from Walk the Moon at the Wiltern. Those guys were too cool
