"In order to sustain success and continue making improvements to the Twilight Concert Series, the Salt Lake City Arts Council will now be charging a nominal admission fee of $5 per concert. More details to come."
I will lose my shit for Raphael again, just as I did Coachella 2011! Oh god. SLC is delivering this year!!
YES! Great lineup. I am all for the $5 charge. Hopefully it will weed out alot of the bros that have no idea who's playing and are only there because it's become the thing to do on Thursdays. Common, MMJ, Raphael Saadiq! His 2011 set was on point. Making for alot of cheap shows this summer what with Red Butte being like a mile from my house and the free hillside watching, $5 Twilight shows and mostly free entry to Urban. Think I will blow some more $$$ on fests in between time. Wakarusa is calling my name.....
Excited for this! July 19th and July 26th have yet to be announced so hopefully there are some more good acts to come. What can you tell me about Beach House live?
Kreutz is going to start throwing shit after he sees that schedule.
Also, this is good due to the fact that some of these acts will have some tour dates coming up around that.
I saw it this morning. It's great, but i have the FYF fest lineup to look forward to, right?
We gotta pack it in Kreutz. W Lounge tonight. Plants and Animals Wed for one last Kilby show. Also, this might actually be off your radar, but Mexican Institute of Sound is playing a free show @ the Living Traditions Festival next Friday @ City Hall. Sudanese food and good times.
I'm in for all of that. Lets go to xiu xiu at urban too. I think it's toward the end of may.
Oh damnit, maybe I'll swing by that tonight--I've got nothing better to do! I've enjoyed what I've heard of MIS a couple years back
Ashley, MIS is next Friday.
Uuuuhhhh, *blushes* YUP! I should probably look at dates next time. Too bad I'll be out of town for the weekend and won't be back until Saturday. Shit!
Who does the booking for Living Traditions? Because I think I love them - Nortec Collective 2 years ago and MIS this year? Thank you for realizing that Mexico has more to offer than the Ballet Folklorico ... now excuse me, I have to listen to Bloom again and dream of July 5th
The Walkmen sounded really great tonight. Beach House obviously blew their mellow pop out of the water! To quote Ice Cube, "Today's been a good day!"
Was it as crowded as it usually is, or did the $5 charge thin out the crowd a bit?
They were estimating it way down, like in the 10K range. In addition to the price, there were a lot of other factors, too: rainy weather during the day, the holiday in the middle of the week, and a lot of other shows in town the same night.
It was very nice though.
