Brazil does have something like 55 straight game winning streak of games played in Brazil. Well they did at least during the Confederation Cup (it could be higher now or they could have lost I really have no idea). While other teams are still threats to them I just don't see how Brazil doesn't win. Talk about the ultimate home field advantage though.
Well I know Brazil has won the last few of them including the game against the USA where the scored 3 second half goals to win. I want to say off the top of my head that France was the last country before them, but I don't remember who they played against.
Either way the point wasn't about the Confederations Cup but just about how great Brazil is at home. Yeah maybe the quality of competition hasn't been the highest but that is still an insane amount of games to win in a row at home.
A European team has never won the WC when the tournament was not hosted in a European country.
Belgium is a trendy darkhorse, but I don't see them getting as far as some people tend to think. Yes, they have a talented squad, many of whom have had good seasons for their clubs, but as a team they are very inexperienced at international level and I think they'll exit during the first knockout phase. Euro 2016 is a better bet for them to make an impact at.

Brazil beats Italy to win WC; Germany wins 3rd place match
Okay, once. Still, I don't see a European team doing it again this year.
We should gather around LA boardie Residents and watch a world cup game some where.
Lucidity, come back to me. Put all five senses back to where they're meant to be.

I'll be at The Harp or Tustin Brewing Company, but I would totally be willing to travel.
You're an OC girl?

Yup. Not born, but bred.
Germany or Brazil to win it. I understand none of the beligum players have experience, but they are one of the tightest groups around, they have every element a team needs, I really think they can make a run.
Marco Reus and Ribery are both out
Fick.
Hahaha remember last World Cup when Chile was running over everyone all aggressive like trying to bully everyone...so funny
We should start a predictions contest, I can keep a tally of entries and see who gets the most points. I'll start another thread for this.

Both bold predictions! The Uruguay squad is still quite similar to the 2010 one, meaning they'll have a strong spirit and be difficult to break down, but I think a combination of not having Suarez for the group games and Cavani being in somewhat indifferent form will really hurt their chances of progressing - where else are the goals going to come from?
And why do you feel Portugal will make the deepest run of the European teams? Genuinely interested.
Corruption scandals with FIFA have been around since forever, and it's very telling that it took 5 of the 6 major WC sponsors (Visa, Coca-Cola, Hyundai, Sony, and Adidas) making noise for them to actually follow up on it.
I think Uruguay will advance at least to the Quarter Finals but I see it hard for them to go further.
On Europeans, I think Germany and Spain have a chance of getting to the final but France is playing very well... They have a very young team that seems to want to show what they're capable of.
