For anyone who has seen them live, what can we expect?
I couldn't really get into their earlier work, but really enjoyed their last album The Warning.
When I heard they were playing a big club here in Philly, I was curious as to how they would pull it off as the album's beats are pretty laid-back. I had no idea why they were headlining that night above The Rapture.
Well, every arrangement was turned up 20 notches of intensity. Pogoing aplenty. In short, they tore the place down. My favorite show of '06 after Daft Punk... and that's saying something.
Absolutely brilliant live. I saw them last week as part of the Australian Big Day Out festival. They played an outdoor stage and had the crowd almost moshing. I'm a big fan so I'm probably a little over-excited, but friends who aren't huge fans and saw the show said they were brilliant.
Finished with Over & Over of course, heaps of fun. And they played a few of their new tracks so I'm guessing we can expect something new to be released soon. They only had 45mins at the festival, so a longer set of maybe an hour would allow them to play Colours and Careful as well - I was shattered they didn't play Colours.
I caught them in SF back in November. Rockin' show, yup. They sound much more organic live, actually. Using a live drummer will have that effect. The impression left was something similar to a cool band that only covers Hot Chip tunes. Hmm. That sorta sounds terrible, but it all comes off more like a big Hot Chip party vs. a stunning sonic experience like that which Daft Punk delivers. But fun, unequivocally.
I am guessing that they will have some tent bursting at the seems. If anyone else asks about Hot Chip tell them that they are awful live. I don't feel like competing with a bunch of faux hipsters for a good spot.
