details = pure fucking insanity. best of the sahara this weekend indeed.
quite epic
i felt the energy was not in the crowd for them...maybe just late sunday saving energy for justice or something... but still was absolutely insane.
Dark side of the sun was absolutely epic. on all levels.
Insane, video coming.........
best sahara tent shows go to adam freeland, pendulum, aphex, and deadmau5.
I wasnt feeling modeselektor, which really disappointed me because I was looking forward to them greatly.
Adam Freeland was fucking awesome. he was just having so much fun and shredding people it was awesome. his scrolling text LED thing sucked, as i thought it was cheesy (sometimes funny...), but he was SO fucking rad.
Being that this is a modeselektor thread, i will say they FUCKING KILLED IT.
all i want to do is dance all the time.
man i was wondering when someone was going to mention modeselektor.
their set stands out as one of the top electronic performances i have ever seen at coachella (and this is my 8th coachella). i am not going to rank them, but i would put them up there with daft punk 2006, underworld 2003, the chems 2002, and kraftwerk 2004. For me, they put on the best show of 2008, closely followed by roger waters and portishead.
they were just flat out amazing, and their set covered a HUGE range of electronic musical styles. it had me jumping at every turn. and to think we were also treated to 3 other amazing live electronic performances on the SAME DAY! booka shade, modeselektor, simian mobile disco, and justice. man what a great day. i love coachella!
Adam Freeland was awesome because, for a single DJ, he bought a fucking show with him. He took "live DJing" to the next level - he dancers with him and crowd interaction with the OBAMA stuff. And he had the live text thing. You don't see all of that very often from average DJs.
I went nuts when Kill Bill Vol 4 destroyed the place!

Yeah, Modeselektor absolutely killed it. The bass was *so* heavy. I was wowed by Adam Freeland earlier in the festival, but Modeselektor was absolutely nuts. Loved all their visuals too. I don't know if the whole crowd was feeling it, but everyone around me was having an awesome time.
I knew that the bass on Modeselektor was going to be immense. I was really, really psyched to see them, but because I was so tired by about 7PM that night, I opted to just sit at the main stage at 8 rather than rushing over from the Sahara at about 8:20.
Gutted that I missed them, though they usually play Seattle once or twice a year so I'm not too upset.
"The reason I don't play ballads? Because I love to play them." - Miles Davis
The crowd doesnt look into it because it wasnt a straight 4x4 beat for everyone to dance too. As someone already mentioned, they covered a wide range of electronic music. I'll admit the middle of their set slowed a bit, but the beginning and the end where just fucking awesome.
HYPER!!!! HYPER!!!!
ass on the grill
Anyone grab this set? Would love to have it!
i'm not sure if i remember the set list. but i remember suckerpin/blackblock/and killbill near each other probly not that order
that was it for me. the best moment in the sahara for sure.
Pumpers like to pump, Pumpers Need to pump.
It went something like : Dark Side of the Sun -> Debutonnaire -> Godspeed -> Suckerpin ->Dancing Box -> Black Block -> Kill Bill Vol.4 -> Hyper Hyper
and one song in there that I didn't know what it was...
It'll be a shame if Modeselector and Deadmau5 arent invited back. Best of the weekend. Deadmau5 showed the frenchies how it should be done. Where is that vid Supre?
dont forget Hasir! my favorites of the set were
Hasir
Dancing Box
Hyper Hyper
They were definitely a highlight for me.
Very good time.
Did anyone see the kid who put the trashcan over his head and was running through the crowd?
I looked over, saw that, and said ..
"Hey! Look! .. Dancingbox!"
hahahhaa
I thought they were fucking awesome.. It didn't seem as if the crowd was too into them though.. there was so much in room in the tent at the time. They were my favorite electronic act this year, but my friends thought differently.. Fuckin great visuals and their songs kick ass.
They ended just in time for all the good stuff at Roger Waters.
OUTKAST
Wish List:
Röyksopp, FC Kahuna, Télépopmusik, RJD2, Futue Sound of London, The Avalanches, 808 State, Zero 7, Mr. Scruff, Moby (Live), Moloko,
COACHELLA 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
If you guys saw Modeselektor then that means you missed SIA. For shame. I got to catch last part of modeselektor after SIA at least.
i saw the first song of sia. that was enough for me... although that song was absolutely awesome modeselektor blew my brains out of my ears
there were a few minutes after Modeselektor where i lost my berrings and i didn't know where i was going to go or what i was going to do next. i just wandered aimlessly for a while until i hit the 10 for 1 bottle place by the Gobi.
that's how awesome Modeslektor was.
"That's the most gangster punk rock shit out there."- Z-Trip showing his love for Paul Tollett
I really wish I recorded more from this set:
