Gary Dourdan, a cast member on the television series ``CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,'' was booked on drug charges after being found asleep in his car in Palm Springs, police reported today.
An officer spotted a car parked on the wrong side of Sunny Dunes Road
near Gene Autry Trail around 5:20 a.m. Sunday and spotted a man inside when he
approached the vehicle, said Palm Springs police Sgt. Mitch Spike.
The actor, who has played crime scene investigator Warrick Brown on the
CBS series since 2000, was carrying a California driver's license, which lists his birth name of Gary Robert Durdin, according to police.
``The officer described Durdin as disoriented and possibly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs,'' Spike said. ``(He) subsequently located suspected cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia (in the car).''
Dourdan, 41, of Venice, was taken to the Palm Springs Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of possession of narcotics and dangerous drugs.
He was released after posting $5,000 bail.
A court date was not immediately scheduled.
A host of celebrities were in town over the weekend for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in nearby Indio, but it's unknown if Dourdan, an accomplished musician, attended.
A representative for the actor was not immediately available for comment.
