Lol maybe because there wasnt anybody else there? That sure was the smallest crowd I ever saw at a Coachella headliner. Come to think of it the crowd was pretty light the whole day. Well I am glad you enjoyed Jack, there were already too many people in the tent for Fatboy, Iwas hoping a few more people would have joined you lol
they both werent good. Fatboy just got old. He is stuck in the 90s and needed to do more with the lights. the intro was sick tho, but he was um...LATE AS FUCK.
anything could happen
seriously fucking Fatboy made me miss the black lips. I was gonna go a Fatboy>Black Lips> Jack Jonhson. BUT NOOOOOOO
jj actually did a good job, for what he is, agreed on it being "emptychella" but it got pretty full, goldfrapp was PACKED, battles was PACKED, aphex/pendulum/fatboy was fucking PACKED, serj was empty, i walked right up to liek 4th row back w/o even pushing anyone...no pit no nothing, he was totally dissapointed...
"It began as a mistake" - Charles Bukowski
It might be true. I wasn't wasting my time walking across the field to find out.
"Well, that's just like, you know... your opinion, man"
the tent during Fatboy was packed indeeed. And damn him for coming on nearly 25 minutes late. We left about 5 mins after his set.
I didn't come into Coachella even knowing who this guy was. Was not excited to see his set. And still am not 'a fan'. But I did end the night watching maybe 1/3 of his set and I think the guy deserves a little more respect than he gets. That and I saw a 'bro rape' in progress which made the whole experience worthwhile.
it will be interesting to see what everyone else says .... i bet in the end it will either be meh or he really wasnt bad ... not many "he sucked" i am guessing ... x****
Have Another Hit Of Colorado Sunshine
I loved how things weren't so crowded this year (except for Fatboy Slim...that was packed), but I was able to get up front for Aphex Twin 5 minutes before and halfway back for Goldfrapp 10 minutes or so before. Could have been closer because a lot of people cleared out after Mum but I needed water.
I left Fatboy early and heard Jack Johnson broing it up about something under a mango tree. It was even worse than I thought.

i saw the first 4 jj songs before leaving for fatboy slim. it wasn't horrible, but i'm not anti jack johnson like most on this board. I made a deal with a girl that went with me to see a JJ song before going over to fatboy slim, and we stayed for 4. it was pretty empty over there though.
We checked out the first 4 or 5 songs & then could hear him the whole way as we made the LONG trek to lot 5.
I guess it is not awful if you like that mellow, monotone kind of stuff.
But what I kept thinking the whole time was that ALL his songs sound alike.
No variation at all!
he put on a good show . ya i missed fatboy but i dnt care ..
Coachella 2007 Coachella 2008 Coachella 2009 Coachella 2010 Coachella 2012 Coachella 2013 Coachella 2014 Coachella 2015
i walked by the main stage on the way out and he didn't sound bad at all. i actually heard some pretty good things about his performance. this being said, i still don't believe he should have taken top billing. but whatever, top billing or not i still would never see more than a song or two of his. i didn't hear fatboys set but black lips owned so hard.
i caught the whole jack johnson set from the front, and i thought it was pretty amazing. i really like how he went in to whole lotta love from staple it together. i wish he did more of express yourself during bubble toes, but the one hook did it for me.
i ran to fatboy at the end of jack to see something that looked similar to what he was doing on a youtube video i watched a day before. I was really torn between the jack and fatboy set, but I'm glad I got to see an original jack performance.
i don't think the argument was that he was a "bad performer" for what he is, just that his music doesn't fit with the past/present epic headliners that Coachella and its fans have become accustom to. no doubt there'd be a lot less drama about him on here if he was just on the lineup, but not a headliner.
with that said, i walked by the main stage on my way out after Black Lips. he sounded fine, for what he is.

I was forced to listen to a few of his songs when the beer garden near the tents was shut down early. That was about the fastest I have ever drank two glasses of wine.

hey dumb bitch!! last i remember it lights had nothing to do with music. you should check yourself. maybe fucking think before you speak.
whoops i forgot to mention that this man while in his own right maybe okay, is a complete fucking fool!!!! how can you play whole lotta love.... how can jack curious jorge johnson play a zeppelin tune? shameful
I had a good time before I fainted due to lack of water and had to be pulled from first row by the security guards.
But before that, I was having a good time =]
I've never seen sooooo many beautiful women!
I was peacefully sleeping in my tent during JJ..Great music to sleep to.
He was alright and sounded good, he's just really not headliner material. Especially coming off a performance as intense as The Verve, it just didn't work. He would have made a great sort of "3:00 outdoor stage everyone is feeling kind of chill and tired" performer, but he's not a headliner.
Especially considering the awesome performances by Prince and Roger Waters, it made his set look pretty sorry in comparison.
i thought he was great. Fatboy was so packed and I was so tired. The heat got to me on Friday. I really, really enjoyed his set. and I wasn't even on planing on seeing him.
Then I will hold you down and spit her percolations all over you until you're as greasy as the day she regrets pushing your big fat ass out her big fat cunt.
