i used to dual boot xp and ubuntu with some nice eye candy gui. i forget the name. i'd love to have it as the exclusive OS on one of my pcs, but for certain applications and hardware i'd still need XP. the ideal solution would be to have multiple computers but i'm way too broke to afford that.

    soon.

    ubuntu user here.

i might be taking one of my laptops. honestly though, i don't think we'll have time to have a LUG meeting, too much going on.

I had a "tux guevera" shirt on last year. I'll wear it this year too i guess, look out for it. and here's my myspace: myspace.com/rudy_rude

so yeah, I'm a big geek.

I was going to bring a cheap lappy with me, but i can't get the damn wifi card to run on xubuntu. and yes, i tried ndiswrapper, but still no go. I think i'll have to upgrade to 8.04 and see if it works. I've been using LTS because the last version just couldn't work (something to do with hibernate/sleep). IT was a documented bug, hopefully its fixed for 8.04

That's probably the main reason i quit using linux too. there's always one thing you just can't get to work. it's been better in recent times, but goddamn that is frustrating. sure it's entertaining for the first 5 things you manage to get to work, but that last one always kills me.

Make sure you have ALL of the java stuff installed.

I will be wearing a Lullabot t-shirt one of the days. Look for me

I am a network engineer on call 24/7. Coachella is one of the very few times I don't bring a laptop. I go with no technology all weekend. I need a break from time to time.

it took me so long to be able to connect to a secure wirless network on gentoo. I ended up having to recompile my kernel, which in turn broke several other things...

but it's still preferable to using windows.
