none of those albums are the best. nevermind is the only album that I can even sit through from that list.
fuckin' with the lights on
i chose OKC but they're all great candidates.
Although the Red Hot Chili Peppers suck these days, Blood Sugar Sex Magic was a pretty great album as was Pearl Jam's "10" and Jane's Addiction's Nothing's Shocking. Not era defining, but all superb albums nevertheless.
So many great albums left off of this list
Thank God someone mentioned these. If you'd taken a single album of BSSM it would have been even better. Same with the Pumpkins MCATIS (my favorite is Adore, but I'm weird).
I can't believe more people haven't mentioned Moby's Play, which was pretty defining at the end of the 90's. I also can't believe how few votes Automatic for the People and Achtung Baby got.
To In Utero and Nevermind I'd add the Unplugged in NYC album.
My vote was easy, OKC. Not just the best album of the 90s but one of the best albums ever made. Period.
Vote to change Beck- Odelay to Beck- Mellow Gold, as the latter is clearly superior in its entirety. Loser aside, the album is perfect from first to last. Odelay just can't compare, though it's a pretty cool album.
Also vote to discard Primal Scream (the fuck?), and add Pixies- Doolittle
