Have any press material said they are swapping closing slots throughout the tour?

I'd think NIN close every show(including Seattle).

It'd make sense considering the stage show they're probably going to have. I could have sworn I heard something about them rotating headlining slots though.

    5/1 - Lightning Bolt @ The Chapel
    5/16 - Noel Gallagher @ Humphreys
5/24 - The Rolling Stones @ Petco Park
5/28 - Neutral Milk Hotel @ Observatory North Park

9/23 - Future Islands @ Observatory North Park

They have been calling it a co-headlining show and have said that both bands will play full sets. I believe that is the extent of the details at this point.

When they toured with QOTSA earlier this year they flipped a coin each night to decide who was going on first.

June 6 - The Rolling Stones
    June 10 - Melvins
    June 20 - Blur
    June 24-28 - Glastonbury

If they play sets that are the same length, why does it matter which band goes on first?

I feel that Soundgarden would be underwhelming going on after NIN.

Honestly, doesnt make a huge difference. I am not a huge Soundgarden fan though. But, I wouldnt mind them as an opener. Dont think I would really want to stick around for Soundgarden if NIN opened however.

Spoonman by Soundgarden this week in Montreal with Matt Chamberlain on drums. It's related to the NIN tour.

Good luck Daniel! Hope you get more exposure than the last time around with Sigur Ros

"Trent's a music-first kind of guy," he says. "It's not just business as usual for him."

"I was listening to guitar music for the first time in years," he says. "A lot of cybermetal, like Fear Factory. I dug up my chord book for guitars, and I was learning chords again. I looked up every single picture of whammy bars I could find. Then Trent was like, 'Yo, you want to do this tour?' and I was like, 'This is the most perfect extension of stuff I was already really into.'"

At one point in his career as an experimental musician, Lopatin had been asked to play keyboards on tour with "beastly, virtuosic" Death Grips drummer Zach Hill's previous band. "I had a job or something," he says, laughing. "It was so lame and I totally regret not doing it!"

"I'm pretty pumped on it," he says. "What's the worst case scenario? People are going to be like, 'Whoa, what was that?'"

Has anyone noticed how poorly this is selling? I was able to get a third row center ticket a few days ago (Sleep Train in Wheatland) and I noticed there were a LOT of unsold seats, if you use the seatmap thing. They are also selling $20 lawn tickets at a lot of venues. Hope they don't end up canceling. Its pretty crazy how things have changed the past couple years.

My friend and I took advantage of that $20 lawn ticket. Shame that's what they're having to do for it.

I think amphitheaters were a bad idea. I fucking hate the one here in Austin. It's a good 20 minutes outside of downtown and a bitch to park at. They really should've stuck to arenas or venues that fit 10,000 or less.

They will have good sized crowds in Pemberton/Vegas/Toronto/Red Rocks,/Austin/Houston/NJ/NY/Hollywood Bowl.

The tour will go as planned.

Going by the colour coded seating chart the following areas need some help in the next several weeks:
    Boston/Florida/Chula/DC/Atlanta/Wheatland/Seattle/Portland/Irvine/Shoreline

A lot of this is down to the crazy ticket prices, especially Hollywood Bowl. They will drop the price on lots of tickets and make up some money on beer/parking.

The tour starts and ends a couple hours drive from me and right now I'm not going to either show.

yeh, places like mountain view can fit over 20,000 people. that is a lot for a band like NIN, considering Tool, for example, seem to stick to the 6000ish arenas. adding in Soundgarden isn't going to double the fanbase

So last night in Vegas Soundgarden played 15 songs and NIN played 18 songs. Unless they truncate them more for the outdoor stages, I am pretty happy these sets.

NIN are back to doing NO The Fragile songs though, which is annoying

I thought Soundgarden put on a great set. I had never seen them before and was never any more than a casual listener of their singles. Their sound was great and they played well.

NIN had video technical difficulties for a couple of songs. The production is pretty scaled back compared to last tour. Looked a little sloppy as you could see a lot of the people moving around the screens on stage. The setlist was nothing special. Great Destroyer was a nice surprise. I jumped really high during songs like Wish and 1,000,000. I had a great time but this tour is not going to be nearly as cool as the Fall tour so don't expect much production wise. That said, they do quite well with the minimal setup and i'm sure they will work out their production difficulties. I'm seeing this tour one more time at the Hollywood Bowl and it should be great fun.

Live Nation(or sheds that self promote) took on this tour as they have to figures out how to soak fans of 90's music with double bills every summer for the next 20 years. Pick almost combination of the following acts:

    Jane's/Hole/Pumpkins/NIN/S-Garden/M Manson/AIC/Pornos/Primus/Foo/Tool/GNR(Axl & Friends)/STP/APC/VR/Green Day

No Doubt/Blink/Bush don't quite fit with the above, but Live Nation have done other strange couplings of other bands. Like Blondie/Cars or Heart/Def Leppard.

    mmmhmm

"As you may have noticed, some things are fucking up up here," Reznor said during a pause in the tour's opening night set, but so much was going right, it was hard to tell what exactly was so wrong. He also noted that this would be Nine Inch Nails' last tour "for a long time."

I think he means more the production than the setlists, the same show they were doing for the festivals. The fact they opened with just Trent starting off Copy of A and then adding the other members seems to corroborate that

So that's a non-response considering I was talking specifically about setlists. I wasn't there so it wopuldn't have made any sense for me to comment on production.

Sounds pretty much the exact same. I can't believe they're still employing a roadie to hold a light to Trent's face. That should have been cut from the performances last year.
