is this the right year for lolla?
is this the right year for lolla?
I'll tell you when I see the lineup. I think it will be pretty kick ass though.
I think it's gonna kick ass. They've taken notes on how other festivals have screwed up their lineups (to different degrees) and you know Lolla and Perry are going to bring the big guns and aim to make this THE festival in the USA. This year is a good year to establish that (from a business perspective)
The Glitter Freeze
Coachella 99-10 Vet, the run has ended in 2011
They can't compete for the simple fact that Coachella has Portishead.
They will probably have a better line up than the catch 22 that Outside Lands has given us.
10/29 Hot Chip @ The Fox Theatre
11/07 Rufus Du Sol @ The Mezzanine (?)
11/13 Mr Little Jeans @ The Rickshaw Stop
11/20 Keep Shelly in Athens @ Awaken
I think Lolla will have better top tier acts than Coach but the desert always has better depth in opening and mid tier acts.
Plus lolla is rumored to book Miley Cyrus, WTF? Whores...
That aside I've already bought tickets and made reservations.
their lineup might be better, but they will never get even the half of the coachella experience.
then again, i'll try to go this year, if I get cheap tickets.
I think they could... I hope so.
Coachella 2017: 4/14-16 @ Empire Polo Fields
While going back on past lineups, its not necessarily plausible, but I would love a token electronic-ish act to be there...
Likely candidates IMO: Chemical Brothers, Justice, Moby, or Digitalism...
Oh and yeah, based on rumors Lollas 08 lineup will destroy!
Based on rumors it will be an amazing line up.
But really, so many rumors have turned out just to be completely wrong I want to see the line up before I book anything.
Also the lack of EDM every year is a minus for me.
Miley Cyrus? I hope not. That will be worse than the people who came to Coachella just to see Madonna do 5 songs.
I can't believe people believe the Miley Cyrus rumors. They started because one of the Lolla board members created a thread about her being added that began with this:
"I know a lot of people in the music industry. My uncle is friends with Miley Cyrus's father. And I asked him to ask about Lollapalooza. Miley's father has confirmed she will be the Saturday headliner opposite NIN."
Would you believe that if a Coachella boarder posted it, or would you fail-cat it to death?
Lolla's lineup will at the very least feature Radiohead, NIN, Wilco, Bloc Party, and possibly RATM or STP (and I'm guessing some festival overlap bands like DCFC, Raconteurs, Gogol Bordello, MGMT, etc). If there's no Jack Johnson, and headliners of that caliber, Lolla's lineup (which this question is about) will own the U.S. fests the way Roskilde is killing Europe. For the experience, Coachella will always get the nod, but this is about the lineup.
If they get STP to fill out with Radiohead and NIN that would be three killer headliners for me. Thing is, though, that I could have seen all three of them before. I never got the chance to see Portishead, and what they're doing with Waters is going to be bigger than anything he's done since Berlin in 80. Plus he's never played a festival, so it's two of my most desired non-gonna-see-this-anywhere-else acts up against three of the acts I'd most want to see but have had plenty of chances to and could easily see otherwise.
It's not going to be comparable to the show he did last year. Just sayin'. But I don't know about that, I thought Paul said in the press conference that Waters either never or rarely has played festivals. Maybe he means in the US.
It's still going to be a different level of show. I can't wait to find out what the fuck these crazy bastards are plotting.
I WOULD BLOW PAUL TOLLETT. ANY TIME.
Right... but see, it's not a guess. It's a fact. So, y'know, go pierce something.
Right, so that pic you posted where you had your ears guaged out to what width that's from a year ago--you just took those out?
You're like a crazy African with plates in their lip, forever.
