Edited 4 hour version or the full thing? I thought it was supposed to all come out in one theater experience but cut down to 4 hours...

I haven't seen that specified yet. But yeah, if they're breaking it into halves already, it seems like there's no reason not to release two 2.5 hour versions.

Everything I had read about the edit was that it would be released as 2 2-hour parts.

I'm pretty sure the only physical release is a combo BD/DVD, with the extended cut included on the DVD.

I finally watched Mike Tyson undisputed truth after being on my DVR for a few weeks now and holy shit that was amazing. Really worth watching, such a roller coaster ride.

After seeing that it beat out The Wind Rises for the LAFCAA Best Animation award yesterday, I watched Ernest & Celestine earlier. It was wonderful. I have a feeling I'll like The Wind Rises more when I see it, but this was still very good.

No interest in seeing it, but the trailers are handled very well. The earlier one with the Oppenheimer quote playing over it was fucking great.

Watched "The Hedgehog" (French) on Sunday. Loved it.
Note: there is no actual hedgehog in the film. It's, you know, one of those artsy foreign film metaphors.

Damn that Godzilla trailer got me so hyped. They even used the original kanji logo, so awesome.

I tend to think Roeper has his head on straight. Not all the time of course, but there are far worse critics out there.

Richard Roeper is mostly a moron. He gets some reviews right, like giving The Counselor an A+ - I honestly loved that movie as much as no other Ridley Scott joint outside of Blade Runner - but he is the epitome of hack criticism.

Goddammit, I had to sit through Crash last night for the first time thanks to a co-worker. How can people stand such fucking obvious, on the nose, WE'RE DISCUSSING WHAT THE MOVIE IS ABOUT AT EVERY MOMENT bullshit. I mostly tuned it out after the first 20 minutes but I still had to scoff at a couple of scenes (Matt Dillion saving the woman he groped earlier especially).

Oh fuck you, the scene where he has to pull her from the car is possibly the only good thing in that movie. Call it convoluted and bitchy and portraying an entirely fictional concept of LA where EVERYONE is racist for some reason, sure. But that's a good scene.

Ben Lyons comes to mind, as well as his dad, whose name I have rage-forgot because he was horrible.

On the other hand, the other movie that was called Crash first is one of the more wonderfully demented movies I have ever seen.

If I recall correctly, Cronenberg was upset they called the second movie Crash.

Amen. The ultimate irony of Crash is that the movie decries bigotry yet the biggest reason for its success was that all of the stuffy old geezers in Hollywood needed a contender to trot out during award season lest those queens from Broke Back Mountain take home all the award season hardware. No one outside the cast/crew and the extended Haggis family actually liked that movie. It was the Mitt Romney of Oscar films.

Brokeback was completely unwatchable in its own right.
