The meta-story ala Kaufman's Adaptation wasn't as fluid or deftly done but it's a good-time movie with some dark, violent humor. Tom Waits with a brilliant cameo also.
You need to see In Bruges. It is absolutely fantastic. One of my favourites films actually. I haven't seen Seven Psychopaths yet, but I plan on it soon.

It is, one of the top movies of 2012 for me. I just thought the ending with the "special effects of the time machine leaving so cheesy. I also don't get why they had the scene with the pick up truck in the forest and then did nothing at all with it.

Tarantino never follows the rules when it comes to directing, he does what he wants, when he wants...I dig and respect that.

I did get thrown by his cameo though...Thought that was a bit ridiculous. Much different from 'The Bonnie Situation', where he actually fit well.

Django for me performance-wise, I though both Sam & Leo killed it.

Sam is great character actor, his facial expressions alone should get a best supporting actor nomination.

Leo was colorful and inviting as the 'villain'.

Foxx was okay, had the confidence and look of a leading man but overall I felt some acting moments were forgettable.

Also, Kerry Washington was ehhhhhh....except for the hot box part of course.

The fact that Eraserhead is coming to Criterion Blu-ray makes me sad that there is not enough David Lynch on blu.

I saw Shame a couple nights ago. It was pretty interesting, had some really good parts along with some really bad parts. Michael fassbender has a big ol dick, that was my main takeaway from the movie

just got back from seeing django unchained. i fucking love that german guy. i'd almost forgotten bastards, but he was good in that too. the whole cast was great. the silly shootout in the big house really took me out of the movie, but enjoyed it otherwise. why did some people instantly die from one shot while others took several and wouldn't die. and they kept shooting excessively at the floor. was surprised to see jonah hill and old tom from lost. also, i counted 96 instances of the word ******. though i went to the bathroom at one point.

definitely enjoyed the movie, one of the few i've liked since jackie brown.

Where are you hearing this? Nothing on the Criterion site about it.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

It's been rumored for a little while (as well as being part of their Hulu channel) and a clue in the New Year's drawing hints at it.

Counting is definitely the best way to enjoy a movie.

I always enjoy reading through notable people's Criterion picks, you can check out Guy Maddin's picks here.

I haven't seen a single one of those.
    5/22 - The Cure - Hollywood Bowl
    5/31 - Brian Jonestown Massacre - Teragram (?)
    6/07 - Chelsea Wolfe - Teragram (?)
    6/14 - Silver Apples - Troubadour
    6/16 - John Carpenter - Orpheum

I Vitelloni is the dullest Felini film I've ever seen. Handsome Italian teenagers are the least engaging sub-group outside of people who post on this message board. You should seek out Haxan/Witchcraft Through The Ages (watch the latter, with the Burroughs v/o) immediately though.

Went to an afternoon showing of Jack Reacher today with a friend and we were the only two people watching the movie. During the previews my friend leaves and comes back a few minutes later with a blunt from his car. It was my first time smoking since August so I got super high. Originally didn't want to but I thought how many chances of doing that would happen again so I caved in smoked. Not sure if it was because I was high or not but I actually really liked the movie. I now understand why they delayed the opening of it a week though.

When was the last time a foreign film got nominated for Best Picture? And, in addition to that, Best Director and Best Actress for Emmanuelle Riva? Haneke beast mode.
