Ohhh, yeah I've seen some of Weir's stuff. Didn't know all that was him. The Truman Show is great, I didn't care for Master and Commander, and Dead Poet's Society I had to have watched in at least two different classes back in the day.

Wreck It Ralph was probably the best kids movie I have seen since Fantastic Mr. Fox, it was funny, smart, well cast, and very original. Not that my opinion means anything in this thread, but I would recommend if you have a child or young relative or even if you don't. The movie totally exceeded my very low expectations and made me have a little bit of hope for future Disney films, although I am still skeptic as this is their only good movie since the 90s besides maybe Meet the Robinsons.
Hmm. For some reason movie tickets are all $5 at LA Live today on the website, no matter the time.
It says "Economy" tickets when it redirects you to Fandango. I'm going to check out Skyfall in a couple hours.
Does anyone know if this is some sort of recurring sale? I can't find any infos.
Just watched Death Wish and what a fun film with cameos from young future jazz guys. Bronson's psychosis is admirable, each death he delivers with a cold mother fuckin' stare. I enjoyed it so much I had to get into the second. Bronson is far more physical in the 2nd one, just something to think about if you Netflix marathon it.
Almost finished with Death Wish 2, and I need to know from any of you old of enough to remember its theatre release: How was it received? I mean, this movie is fucked up. Charles Bronson is the ultimate badass.
I also watched Southland Tales today, what a fucking a failure on the parts of the casting, the writing, and well..just fucking everything. OK, so maybe with "Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Sean William Scott.." as the two names I saw, I should have not even gone through with it. Then it starts, I'm looking at Magic cards, and then I hear a familiar voice, I can't pin it. Then I look at the screen. Justin Timberlake.
This movie was over already. I just let the trainwreck keep going. So many cameos of TV actors in a film that had promise in the scenario of the world before it introduced the characters; including the narrator, Timberlake. After looking at Richard Kelly's IMDB I feel like this is another one of his many films that had some great potential, but he rushed it out the door. It's unfortunate how money can just slop up something great.
**Death Wish 2 LIVE UPDATE
The writers just threw in PCP use. Action film folks who enjoy senseless violence: Watch this.
Yes, Death Wish is awesome. The last couple are ridculous mockeries of the first two though.
And Southland Tales is one of the worst movies ever made. it's such a crazy bundle of WTF all the way through. And none of that has to do with The Rock or Sean William Scott, both of whom I actually like quite a bit. That movie tested my patience quite a bit.
last.fm 8/7/16 - Sufjan Stevens @ Hollywood Bowl // 8/8/16 - Radiohead @ Shrine // 8/8/16 - Boris @ Regent
9/14/16 - Wilco @ Theatre at Ace Hotel // 9/18/16 - Kraftwerk @ Hollywood Bowl
I don't see Southland Tales as a failure. It is very high on my list of favorite films. It is sprawling and ridiculous but I count these as successes.
And it deals with realities of 21st Century America like few other films.
Some may be turned off by the slowish pace, the mystical sci-fi elements, the vulgarity ("Cockchuggers 2: Cock Chuggin'") but I find that all great. And I love the music, including Justin Timberlake Lip-Syncs The Killers so, yeah.
I will note that the original/Cannes cut IS a mess and that I am not sure I would have loved the film as much if that was what I was going by.
I don't think I'm hosting a 2016 collaborative playlist.
I don't know, John Waters looks pretty happy about what is happening in that photo.
All of Xanman's photos on the other hand....
Personally I think if you were to meet/know anyone famous, the last thing you want is a shitty picture with them looking annoyed. I'd rather have a legitimate conversation that doesn't have to revolve around the subject of me praising their work.
