    Default Fantasy Football '15

It's that time of the year again, women and children!

I've just sent out invites (if you didn't get one due to an email address SNAFU, let me know and I can PM you the details) to every player we had last year for our $30 pay league, and if there is enough interest and the league is full with many more interested, I would definitely run a second league if need be. But let's concentrate on the first league... first. The cost and payouts will be the same. $30 entry fee, winner gets $330, 2nd place gets their money back. The rest of us/you suck eggs for a few months.

I've set up the usual, a 12 team live draft, standard = snaking order, happening during the last week of August, anywhere around 8/26, 8/26 or 8/27. It definitely won't be on the weekend or on a Friday night. The exact draft date and time will be TBD by the owners involved. Tentatively I put down 7PM Pacific / 10PM Eastern on Thursday, August 27th.

The time and date for the draft is up for debate, hell, even the KIND of draft, along with any other suggestions are all open for discussion - scoring settings, etc., can all be discussed here - or we can just roll with last year's settings. (as they currently are in the Yahoo league page)

Last year's Championship game had Bobert take me down in the championship game, unfortunately. For the second year in a row I landed second place! Bobert joins the Champion's Club, where he presides along with TickleMeElmo who won it in 2013, Aphxtwinin who won it in 2012, and 2011's Champion, Playadelwes. Who will join that exclusive club this year? Is it YOU?

Without further adieu, let's get to brass tacks here. Who is in?

If someone from last year can't play this year, no worries, as I'm sure we'll be able to find someone else to take your spot. For this reason, if a non-2014 player has interest in playing this year, let me know and you'll be added to the waiting list in the order in which your request was posted.

Once the league is full, I'll send out payment instructions. It'll be the typical Paypal deal. Once everyone has paid, we'll set the draft order and be well on our way to another fun year.

    Any questions, fire away.

    Let's rock.

This is my annual suggestion to switch to PPR of any value, only to have the suggestion quickly voted against by a few and outright ignored by most. Especially with the way the RB pool is looking this year.

And thanks as always to the great commish for setting this up.

UCan'tNotBeatTheJets is signed up for another try.

That draft date works for me as well.

I've been thinking about this, I'd be up for doing a half point PPR adder this year. What do you other guys think?

I'm renewed. I'm down with .5 ppr. Anything to increase the minimal scoring in our league.

So far we've got 10 confirmed teams, and 2 teams from last year who haven't signed up.

As soon as the league is full with 12 teams, I'll send out the Paypal payment instructions - once everyone has paid, the draft order will be set!

The half point PPR option is still on the table, and currently has four votes for "yea". If you're interested in having this stat added to our league, chime in or we'll just roll with the settings from last year.

Full PPR is a bit overkill for WRs I think. I personally think 0.25 PPR is best but 0.5 is fine too.

This. Personally, I think PPR is a bad scoring metric that doesn't always equate to production on the field. In full PPR a reception of -9yds is still a positive scoring play which is pretty ridiculous. I'd be okay with 0.25 PPR.

It depends on the philosophy of your scoring system. If you want it to be as balanced as possible with no position to be largely more valuable than another, stuff like PPR works pretty well. If you want the system to reproduce on field production as closely as possible, PPR is not the way to go. Both philosophies together don't really mesh well.

Can we consider FAAB too? In the normal waiver system, losing a player out to someone just because they only put 2-3 waiver claims out all year is bullshit. People claim that's a strategy but barely. FAAB actually rewards owners who put in time and effort and know exactly what they want, not for dumb luck.

I fully support this. Having a budgeted waiver system is so much better than the continual rolling list.

So it sounds like we'd have a majority vote on this if it's a .25 PPR. I'll go ahead and make the change to our league scoring system.

Next action item up for discussion: FAAB instead of the rolling waiver system.

I'm for it as well, so that's three votes thus far.

For those who may be unfamiliar with FAAB, here:

    FAAB waivers

Free Agent Acquisition Budgets (FAAB) make fantasy games even more realistic. Not only do you have to think about the best players to draft, but you also have to take into account your team's acquisition budget.

In a FAAB waivers system, each manager receives a dollar amount to place blind bids on players that are on waivers. The manager with the highest bid at the end of the waiver period claims that player and that bid amount is deducted from the team's acquisition budget.

    FAAB Rules

The FAAB doesn't apply to free-agent pickups.

Bids are hidden to other managers until a player clears waivers. The winning bid will display in the Transaction log.

Players with multiple bids placed on them will display under "FAAB Bids" on a league's Transactions log.

The FAAB system charges you the exact amount you bid if your bid is successful.

The default FAAB budget for teams is $100. The commissioner of a custom league may change this amount at any time throughout the season by using the Acquisition Budgets tool.
There isn't an option to force managers to make a minimum bid amount.

The waiver priority will only change if 2 or more managers bid the same exact dollar amount on the same player.

That's five for FAAB. Two more = majority!

Also, we've only got one spot open for the league now, and it's still zachattacks11's spot if he wants it. I've sent him multiple reminders through Yahoo and a PM on here - if he doesn't respond in a few days I think we should give his spot up to someone else... anyone want to add their name to the waiting list?

Since he hasn't responded yet, it's looking good for whoever else wants to join our league this year and take the final spot... but no one is on the waiting list - speak up now and you'll get his spot if it's not claimed by tomorrow at this time!

Let's invoke the KISS principle here.

Ain't nobody got no time for no FAAB.

I can't even handle my household budget these days.
