The Avalanches

I haven't found a specific thread for these guys, so I thought I'd start one..

I'm really just curious.

With the finishing touches supposedly being made to their upcoming album, I haven't seen or heard any sort of tour information from them. They're not slated for any upcoming festivals, (as of right now), club gigs, ANYTHING..

I'm thinking they should just pack up all their shit and hitch a ride with w/the fucking Midnight Juggernauts and get their asses over here for Coachella.. What else are they up to?

They have been working on their follow up to Since I left You forever. At this point, I don't know if it ever will be released.

What I do know is that, considering they won't be added this year, The Avalanches should be at Coachella 2009.

we've been calling for the avalanches for so many years now. remember when they were added to the sxsw lineup by mistake in 2006? they subsequently made it onto the fake coachella poster that year and everyone got excited. it still hasn't happened.

just out of curiosity....how are the Avalanches live?? I like their stuff, but I have trouble seeing how it would be very interesting live....have any of you guys seen them before??

I know, it seems that they've been "working" on this new album for like 2 1/2 years. Delays after delays, the only new stuff I've ever come across are remixes.

I've just always been curious on how they perform live, especially since it seems to be such a rare occurrence.

I'll believe it when I hear the music, but the head of the Avalanches label said in a radio interview that the band is expected to deliver their album to him on xmas day. If that happens, it seems that Coachella would be a decent possibility.

Look what just got released two weeks ago...so there is hope lol

Plus I DJ with pepperoni from the avalanches here in Melbourne and he said definitely new album this year. However this is getting more and more unlikely every day, so i think it must have been delayed for some reason out of their hands. Xmas day comment above seems very likely.

IF the Avalanches were to come out with a new album, this is the year to do it. It's been 9 years since they're debut album, and Coachella is definitely a great way to promote their stuff. I agree with the posters above, The Avalanches in the Sahara would be an awesome end to any night.
