"The first time I heard the new single off the Bravery album, I actually cried, and I do not even remember the name of that damn song. It reminded me of this girl I am in love with." - kroqken
Yeah, thinking about the universe is hard. It's almost too abstract for our minds.
VY Canis Majoris (VY CMa) is a red hypergiant star located in the constellation Canis Major. It is the largest known star and also one of the most luminous stars known. It is located about 1.5 kiloparsecs (or 5,000 light-years) from Earth.
Roberta M. Humphreys (2006) estimates the radius of VY CMa at 1800 to 2100 solar radii. To illustrate, if our Sun was replaced with VY Canis Majoris, its surface would extend to the orbit of Saturn. Assuming the upper size limit of 2100 solar radii, light would take more than 8 hours to travel around the star's circumference.
Similarly, if a human could walk on the surface of Canis Majoris – assuming a speed of 5 km/h (3 mph) for 8 hours a day – the person would have to walk for 650,000 years to circle the star (compared with 2 years 11 months to complete the same task on the Earth, and 310 years 7 months on the Sun).
There are two controversial opinions of the properties of VY CMa. One view (such as Roberta M. Humphreys' study), the star is a very large and very luminous red hypergiant. In another opinion (such as Massey, Levesque, & Plez's study), the star is a normal red supergiant, with a radius around 600 solar radii. In this case, its surface would extend well past the orbit of Mars.
i feel so insignificant
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case.
Hahaha so awesome thanks. Kinda hurts my head though too.
"We're on a mission from God"
And people still think that we're the only sentient beings in the entire universe.
This is neat too; ignore the dumb fat singing guy but everything else is interesting.
There's absolutely no evidence to suggest that there is any other sentient life in the universe.
After seeing that gif image you don't think that there are at least 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 suns in the universe that have planets that could have freak results for life? The idea that the life on this planet was a 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 1 chance freak result of millions of chain reactions factored exponentially
Check out Panspermia
theres no evidence that suggests theres not either.

Yeah, 'cause we're so high tech and and went through every single galaxy in the whole universe to check. And we're so special because God created us and the earth is only 4,000 years old.
Did anyone else think a screaming monster would pop up at the end of that GIF? I kept waiting for it
Then I will hold you down and spit her percolations all over you until you're as greasy as the day she regrets pushing your big fat ass out her big fat cunt.
Oh, and beware of absolutes, dude. Although in your phrasing of it you're technically right--we will never prove there is a spiritual higher being, because it is not a "being" and it is not "higher." But within the next hundred years I think they're going to finally start to unravel the energy phenomenon that has been mythologized into God.
Actually it doesn't make sense to assume it, but it might be true. Nonetheless, in the meantime you're just embarassing yourself and showing your age if you don't think that humanity is almost unfathomably special--at least on Earth.
now my brain really hurtzzz but sweet image
