If Chris Martin sang the last song it'd be Coldplay.
Larry Gus opened for them at the show I saw. Profoundly weird. He had his "set up" on a folding table, the kind a junior high would use to set up the punch bowl at a school dance. He came out in a hoodie and had an ID lanyard. No fanfare, no dimming of lights, nothing. I thought he was an equipment tech or something. He plugged in what looked like an iPod, and started fidgeting around with it. Music started playing on the PA. It wasn't until he adjusted a microphone and started warbling in off-key Greek that I realized he was the opening act.
I took a survey of the people around me what substance we thought he was on. My favorite response was "spray paint."
We highly enjoyed it- then again, I love bizarre acts, especially when they really feel it out loud. Everyone starts somewhere, no?
Did anyone have any luck RSVPing for the NPR NYC Cut Copy show today?
Kind of strange to put a cap on RSVPs, isn't it? I've never seen that before, but I suppose it makes sense to prohibit too many wankers from lining up...
Chiming in, because I love minutiae, but I am a huge Cut Copy fan and don't see them as anywhere as big as Hot Chip/Passion Pit/the XX. I don't think they'll see mainstage. Outdoor at night to a packed stage sounds about right for this year. But for their sake, I'd love to be proved wrong, these guys continue to churn out excellent material and their live show is legendary and they absolutely deserve a featured slot.
Well damn, so much for Cut Copy playing at Coachella...
Lack of a Northern California date on this tour makes me think they've already been secured for Outside Lands

Their set at HARD was super weak anyways
They could still play sunday both weekends. I mean, we do have these things called planes...
5/15-17/15 - Psycho CA @ Observatory // 5/22/15 - Laura Jane Grace @ Hollywood Forever Cemetary // 5/27/15 - Neutral Milk Hotel @ Warner Grand Theater
6/3/15 - Sufjan Stevens @ Dorothy Chandler // 7/15/15 - Shellac @ Regent // 7/31/15 - Melt Banana w/Torche @ Roxy
Just my opinion. I did hear from others that they really did enjoy the HARD set. I saw them Coachella...08? and Coachella 2012 or whatever it was. Both were great shows. HARD set was weak. not impressed with the setlist, or how most of the new material sounded live...Could have been the stage sound though? I dont know, but I really wasnt feeling it. They were pretty much my must see for that day too.
Stunned that these guys aren't at Coachella 2014. I wasn't there in 2011 but continually hear people say its one of their all time highlights. For them not to play again since then and again now in 2014, following an album release seems criminal. I caught them in the UK in 2011(only time ive had chance to see them) and it was unquestionably the best 'live' act and 'atmosphere' i've experienced at any gig. Had high hopes my first coachella would be topped with cut copy's return.
^^ really excited for that set.
2013 = Coverchella
2011 = Perfectchella
What was The setlist for them at their last coachella appearance. anyone?
2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012b, 2013a, 2014a
It's not on Setlist.fm, but based on my memory and similar sets they performed around the same time, it was something like this:
Visions / Nobody Lost, Nobody Found
Where I'm Going
Corner of the Sky
Lights and Music
Take Me Over
Pharaohs & Pyramids
Hearts on Fire
Need You Now
Out There on the Ice
Now that I think about it, they played "Feel the Love" too
