How the fuck is that Eeyore? This board likes indie pop. That's what I post about. There is no audience for anything else.

It's either make a value judgement on whether something is noteworthy enough to be posted about, or post frequently for no reason.

First off, the fact that someone else said "Why hasn't someone posted this yet?" should be confirmation enough that the generalization "There is no audience for anything else [in this thread beyond indie pop]" is completely untrue; it may not be a big audience, but you're wrong to say that nobody else is interested in any other kind of show beyond what you mentioned.

Also, who gives a fuck if other people like it or not? This is a thread for upcoming shows not "upcoming shows which the majority of those reading would like." Do you think if you had posted the date that you'd be bombarded with "Why did you post this, nobody likes that shit" replies? When has that ever happened in this thread? I've posted tour announcements which nobody replied to, but so what? Do you feel that the content of your posts need to be validated by at least X number of boardies in order for them to be considered worthwhile?

And even if your over-generalized statement were true, why do you feel the need to go out of your way to point it out or announce it to us all publicly? It comes off as a passive-aggressive dig wrapped up in a pity-party, hence it being very Eeyore.

    Yep.

There were TWO raining threads created when Molina died. Post about as many shows as possible, as many albums you listen to as possible, it's worthwhile if even one person finds out about something great because of it.

Right. There's a balance point somewhere between "posting about five niche shows a day in LA" to "posting Tycho's tour dates"

This is a useful rubric. Deciding not to post something because there isn't a huge audience for it just doesn't make sense here. I bet 99% of the board never listened to SubRosa's album but that didn't stop me from incessantly talking about it last year.

    In that case,

Jackie-O Motherfucker is headlining a show at Human Resources on Feb 8th. Apparently it's a full band show, whatever that currently means. Anyway Jackie-O have been making music forever and it's definitely worth checking out. Tara Jane O'Neil is also doing her record release show for her debut on Kranky as part of that night. $8

There's also a free show at MOCA on Jan 30th, with Airway and Extended Organ (LAFMS bands) and John Wiese doing a duo with a free improv drummer. Starts at 6.

Unfortunately Goldenvoice stopped updating their set times thread and recently it seems the way to get El Rey set times is to wait for them to post them on their Facebook page the day of the show.

I couldn't believe that tickets for theses shows are being resold for $75 plus.
