Tickets purchased for Danny Elfman! What a perfect way to spend Halloween. Hopefully there will be that haunted house down the street from Staples again.

EDIT: It will be and here is the link.

I went to the Regeneration show too. Got lucky scoring $10 tickets outside. I was surprised by how much I really enjoyed Howard Jones. Not that I was expecting to hate him, I think his hits are just fine, but I never bought any of his records growing up. At his age he sings his hits perfectly. He did a double version of Things Can Only Get Better that was a nice close to his show. His chrome keytar was pretty fancy.
Andy Bell was fun too, and was the main reason we went. I was really into Erasure as a teen so it was great to hear Drama, Stop and Chorus.
All in all, a pretty fantastic evening for $10.

Have to say though... rewatching the video from the last time I saw InSoc.. (Video = It Is Useless to Resist Us from the 2008 Trocadero show in Philly. Shitty Openers that night, but InSoc were fucking fantastic at that show) So much better. Kurt's voice seemed a bit off tonight. And I will forgive him on Burning Bridges, since that wasn't his track originally. If they were going to play something off of Synthesizer, they should have either done "Seeds of Pain", since he sang on that, or I like the Way you Werk it. Either would have been better than Burning Bridges.

I was just reading about that. I wonder if that's going to have an impact on the rest of the tour.

"There is a long history of asking African-Americans to endure racism silently; it’s characterized as grace, as strength. Chappelle’s Connecticut audience, made up of largely young White males, demanded a shuck and jive. Men who seemed to have missed the fine satire of the Chappelle show demanded he do characters who, out of the context of the show look more like more racist tropes, than mockery of America’s belief in them."

Chappelle didn't have a melt down. He didn't perform for hecklers 2 nights ago then killed in Pittsburgh last night.

Instead of letting the man perform the crowd decided to be entitled shit heads and shout jokes that are a decade old. Good on Chappelle.

I would be upset, sure. But I would absolutely understand where Chappele was coming from. Guy has paid his dues and doesn't need to put up with that kind of disrespect.

Fair enough. I sort of agree with that, but it's also totally unprofessional to fuck over a whole crowd because of a few assholes.

If you don't know a god damn thing about the acts playing, or have an appreciation for comedy in general, and seem to think it's not going to be your crowd... Why not just stay home that day? The rest of us will thank you. Festival Supreme doesn't need another concert junkie just showing up to mark it down in their diary. In other words, I will be there. I will also be drinking. Stay very far away from this event if you want to have fun that day.

When I saw Prince at the Forum in 2011, dude had people stationed all throughout the venue that would walk up to anyone taking photos and have the photographers either delete the photos right there on the spot or escort you out.

I get why this annoys Chappelle, but he's handling this all wrong. If it annoys him so much that he somewhat regularly just walks off stage, he needs to put a plan into place like Prince's. He seriously needs bouncers that grab assholes and drags them out of the venue if they heckle. I'd much rather be a part of a heavily policed crowd than an unserved crowd.

it's hard to do that with a crowd of 10,000+.

This is a much different scenario - from what i have read, the problem with Chapelle's situation was a very belligerent crowd of assholes actively shouting the names of characters from his television show at him instead of allowing him to continue with his performance.

EDIT:Also, legally, I don't think you can have people physically removed from a venue for being annoying. You CAN enforce a no camera policy because of copyright laws, though.

Somewhat regularly? Wasn't this like... the second time? Regardless, he shouldn't have to hire an army of private security personnel to enforce show etiquette 101.

I guess if it was an entire crowd, there's not much you can do.

But I think if you set the parameters of no talking before the show, with written warnings outside of the venue, you can get away with it. If they brought out an MC to establish the rules in advance of Chappelle's set, it could have curbed the heckling to a level that security personal could handle ejecting anyone being loud.

I don't pretend to know much about the law in this sense (and it may be that you have a very good knowledge of it); but my understanding is as long as you stick the rules in the fine print before you surrender your ticket, venues can enforce whatever rules they want as long as they don't violate someone's civil rights.

I mean, if you can get kicked out of a bar for being a drunken mess screaming at everyone, I imagine you can get kicked out of a concert for interrupting other's experience. That sort of thing just doesn't happen very often because concerts are themselves are loud enough to overpower anyone's voice.

If the venue is private property I'm pretty sure you you can kick whoever you want out.

Working security at a music venue, I've had one night where I was/we were told to escort anyone out for merely pulling out their cell phones, even if just to check the time. If we could see a phone, the person had to leave. No warnings, no questions asked.

So yeah, I imagine you can legally throw someone out for almost anything as long as it's requested by the performing artist & if the venue is private property.
