His mom wants to know what he wants for dinner. Leave him alone.
But how do you know whether the text is important without pulling out your phone to check it?
Movie etiquette is to not use your cell phone in the theater. Whether someone's said something or glared at you, I can assure you it's been a distraction for people sitting behind you, because the sudden light, no matter how dim, is going to draw an eye. Like Chris said, if it's so important to check your phone during a movie, you probably shouldn't be in a theater. People are responding in a hostile manner because you're admitting to rude and selfish actions in a public space and then saying that, because you do it discreetly it's not a problem. I guarantee you that's not the case and that there's very rare moments where one should have a phone out in a theater (those moments mostly have to do with calling the police for some sort of activity in the theater.)
Was your great grandmother only going to be in the hospital for 110 minutes?

I'm going to put an end to this conversation, or at least my participation in it. I'll try to be more courteous in the theater, but i'm not going to turn my phone off every time I go to the movies.
I have no problems with people wanting to take pictures during the show. I rarely find single phone snapshots annoying, especially if the flash is turned off. It's the people that go full xanman and film entire shows and songs which block peoples view for considerable amounts of time. That really annoys me.

0_0! The closest I will ever get to see Sun City Girls!!!
The best part is this starts early at 7:30.
When I saw Wolverine last week a high school guy took out his phone and snapped a picture of the Marvel logo on the fucking screen and went to Instagram. I immediately said "put your phone away or leave". He was obviously very taken back that someone young and close to his age would say anything and proceeded to talk shit about me with his friend but he never took his phone out again. At the end of the movie in the lobby I told him no hard feelings and just talked about the movie for a bit and how an expensive experience like going to the movies for 2 hours should be the best it can be.
Why it's acceptable to drink to excess, scream along, and be even worst with phone and pictures for an even MORE EXPENSIVE event like a concert is a mystery to me. Usually depends on the venue/band.
Oh well that's my story.
Digital media has made us even more selfish as a culture than we already were, which is incredible.
The singing along comment is more directed at the people I can hear better than the amplified and PAd group of people I paid to hear.
Yeah, ive heard Tweedy mention it before at a show. He's not gonna stop performing though to stop people, he's all class.
Fuck Camerassssss. Hey guys, there are professionals who are paid to take these photos for you. So just settle down and enjoy the show. Find the pics on the internet later. I was just at neil young in stuttgart the other week, and some idiot jsut spend the whole concert with a stupid grin on his faceas he filmed it through his smart phone. Too bad he never watched the concert.
There's going be more tickets for Eliott Smith tribute at the Largo. They're going be sold on the night of and $100 with 100% going towards free arts for abused children.
I forgot to buy tickets both times so I am hoping they add another date, it's possible since.
1. Blake lives in Malibu (formerly of the Simon Dawes Band and now called Dawes).
2. And him and Fiona are dating so they are always hanging around together in and around Malibu.
So I am hoping they add another date in the area since they are together and always around.
This sounds awesome!
